  3. If Obama care is all about supplying all in need.Medical Research should be a large component to Obama's care package deal as well.Without continued research, how can we begin to expect continued good care.As a nurse who works with patients who have cancer. We rely on continued research on drugs that target cancer cells. Thus killing off the cancer cells without killing off healthy cells of our patients.Which in return makes the out come of cancer patients more favorable. As well as a decrease in secondary diseases in our patients. That occur from the chemotherapy treatments the patients are receiving.Which would mean shorter stays in the hospital for these patientsl.Decrease in admissions into the hospital as well.Without medical Research we shouldn't even bother with health care. The medical field is a continuum of trail and error through medical research. We can't afford to ever get to a stand still status in this area of all our lifes.

  4. The 3 largest drug companies spent 20,000 million dollars in 2012 on research. Jackson County would spend 40 million. I am certain if we vote yes a cure for cancer is just around the corner.

For once an ambulance chasing lawyer is correct, this tax is totally insignificant as to results or economic development. It is significant however to the poor person spending an extra $100 per year in tax.

  5. I'll endorse it if I can have the concession and cafeteria contract.....or the snow removal contract.....or you will hire my kid.....or I get the medical waste disposal contract or I get a reserved parking pass or you put me on the board or you retain my legal office.....or you give me a five year vendor contract.....you make me a subcontractor or whatever. IO mean a healthy KC economy needs lots of leeches paid by the dumb ass tax payers. Welcome to good ol' KC

  6. In regards to the comment about money spent by drug companies.Comment by the lawyer.Tell this to a family with a child dieing in the hospital from cancer.I have been a nurse over thirth years.I work with cancer patients.I have witnessed first hand the lifes saved from continued research. No we are miles away from a cure. However we are miles ahead of where we started as well.Reform needs to take place on these drug companies. The politics that take place in the entire medical forum.Makes me so angry.Everyone has their hand in the cookie jar!!! Our system is so over saturated with greed, corruption. In every level. We should be able to take these issues to the big hill and expect some type of reform.Instead they are at the core of all these issues.I feel the anger and frustration that everyone else does as well.

  7. Welcome to the world of HCA.

  8. @10:24 I dont really care that your a nurse or that you witnessed "other" people dying of cancer, in these times its hard NOT to find some friend or relative in your family or circle that doesnt have or know of someone suffering with cancer, what kills me about this so called "Research" is we are taxed and we donate and we listen to the lies and watch overpaid fatcats driving this years mercedes around playing on us like emotional sharks squeezing funding from us and if a cure or treatment is on the horizon, those people who had no say in being taxed for your research will pay out everything right up to and including their homes just for the treatment .. fuck you and your $48 an hour job ... just how much of that do YOU give back to research and those sad people needing treatment?

  9. JOHN FIERRO IS A FREAKING PIG. HE WOULD DO ANYTHING TO CURRY FAVOR WITH CIVIC COUNCIL TYPES BECAUSE HE WANTS CAMPAIGN MONEY.
HE will NEVER be a councilman. He is struggling just to be a facsimile of a man.

  10. I am a Marine Corps Veteran (disabled) I was stationed at Camp LeJeune when they poisoned the drinking water and so was my Mother and my Father both died from complications due to Cancer due to drinking the water at Camp LeJeune, I also suffered a number of side effects from drinking that water, Claire McCaskell .. our great saviour of the veteran cut us a deal for that "if you can prove (even being stationed there was not enough) but if you can prove you drank the water and that your Cancer is a form that they are admitting to that caused cancer AND that this particular cancer didn't come from somewhere else or was not inherited THEN if your not already dead, you can get treatment for that particular cancer alone from the VA" My point is, there is no money in a cure to cancer its in the research, the Marines knew 20 years before they stopped poisoning us that they WERE poisoning us and did nothing until it was disclosed and they were caught. This research facility just like the toy train, the waterworks and everything else this corrupt city gets involved in will do nothing for the people but will do a lot for a group of elected people that are still laughing at the thought of having to do the will of the people.

    Mr. Tony,
Cue the "poor dying kids". This tax will not help them, yet Mr. Glorioso will not shy from exploiting traumatized families. He will parade their pain and fear for political gain.
Ethically, we should not pass this tax as it is a hobbled together piece of legislation.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So how we want to run the sales tax? Why not make it $0.50 on every dollar and then the city can accomplish everything? So will the city get a rebate from any profit this research makes? NO FUCKING WAY.

    ReplyDelete
  13. There will be no profit because there will be no results. There will no doubt be some articles published, some papers presented and perhaps a small amount of the work will be built on by others. Nonetheless why should one poor county be funding something that is national in scope? And don't give me any of the bull about "economic development". When you tax people you redistribute wealth with some being destroyed in the process.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Now, the Blacks can STFU. They have no power to overcome the masses of WHITE people who endorse this tax. All of the "I Am Black" groups can just STFU.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 11:55am So that is the simple logic behind this tax. Nothing more or less than economic development incentives for the rich?

  17. Okay, so we know that Dave Helling reads this blog and that makes me really sad. I just check this thing out for the boobs.

  18. The medical tax is just another way of saying "How can we be more like
    Detroit".

  19. Doesn't matter this willbe defeated!

  20. Pretty much every organization, group or politician making money on this campaign.

    Truth to power.
