TESTIMONY: KANSAS CITY RESIDENT TAKES A STAND AGAINST CITY HALL EMINENT DOMAIN FOR EAST PATROL!!!
TKC NOTE . . . Here's a missive sent our way from a grassroots neighborhood activist offering a resident perspective of the developments surrounding the East Patrol development that's nearly $20 MILLION over budget right now.
East Patrol Fraud Update
What took place today at the hearing after more than five requests were made for a continuances, was deplorable.
It is amazing the people who are willing to go to great lengths to maintain the status quo and behave in a very unethical manner in plain sight. These people know that the general public typically does not recognize the unethical behavior and that no authority will abate their unethical behavior . . .
The City Plan Commission rubber-stamped the zoning change for the area after the Heart of the City Area Plan was enacted on 30 April 2011 and amended on or about September 2012; both recommended highest and best land use as residential. City Plan Commission did not require the City to answer the question "What changed?" From 2011 before the City declared a "done deal" to 2012 after the City declared a "done deal" to now 2013, what's so different from a year ago to permit such an undesirable land use change?
I requested the City of Kansas City show where Ward Parkway is subjected to the same unwarranted and disruptive zoning? Show where in Leawood, KS developers are getting projects approved that nobody from the community wants. The bottom line is it simply doesn't exist. There is no illustration nowhere in the Kansas City Region that allows for this type of development.
You have to answer that question for yourself; comparing issues Kansas City doesn't like to speak about.
Tomorrow, this issue will be before the Planning and Zoning Commission where it will likely be rubber-stamped again. We have to have people at that hearing for the record.
