SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY BIZ JOURNAL QUESTION 1 ENDORSEMENT TURNABOUT!!!

And interesting Friday turnaround that should give us a bit of perspective on how local politics is playing out over the weekend.

THE KC BIZ JOURNAL SWITCHED UP THEIR ENDORSEMENT AND NOW OPPOSES THE QUESTION 1 SALES TAX!!!

Take a look at a snippet of their statement:

KC Biz Journal: "We editorialized in favor of the Jackson County Translational Research sales tax in mid-August. Although we had questions at the time about the exact setup of the proposal, they were eclipsed by enthusiasm for the overall goal of building on the area’s existing life sciences efforts, especially through three impressive local institutions.

But a closer examination of the issue brings us to new ground as an editorial board. Although we are as supportive as ever of the tax proposal’s goal, we no longer support ... The Tax*"

*There was a cutoff and paywall . . . But I've heard from readers who confirm the KC Biz Journal Switcheroo.

This biz community rejection after further consideration stays a lot about the campaign as we close in on two weeks until election time.

Developing . . .

  4. Appreciate and echo their sentiments. Of course, we support the goal of the tax. Always will. It's the tax itself that is troubling. And for that reason, support of the tax, regardless of the purpose, is unconscionable.

  5. That tax is toast, sorry Mike take your payoff money and all that goes with it.

  6. County Legislator Dennis Waits (of 28 years) has a federal tax lien on his business and property but he wants us to pay more in taxes when he doesn't pay his.

What does or why did the county use the deceptive term "Translational"? What are they hiding in the sophistry of this word?"

Who is foolish enough to vote in a half cent sales tax on all the county?

Why won't the Jackson County MISSOURI deal makers and politicians tell you that your tax dollars from this Nov 5 scam will go to researchers that drive Infinity, Ferrari and Porche cars to their stately homes in Johnson County KANSAS and the golf course in Mission Hills, KANSAS?

Can enough taxpayers pull their heads out long enough to vote NO Prop 1 on November 5.

  8. If the Business Journal retracts its endorsement (the bible of the biz community), something must really be wrong with this tax.
