MEDIA CIRCUS QUESTION: ARE TEEN DATE RAPE ALLEGATIONS TOUTED BY THE KANSAS CITY STAR FALLING APART?!?!
Here's what everybody is missing . . .
At the center of a recent Missouri controversy regarding allegations of teen sexual assault lies this sordid question: Is anybody really qualified to tackle the topic of teen date rape?!?!
Few people watching this drama unfold dare to mention that this case is a nearly indecipherable date rape that's comprised mostly of he said/she said allegations that are would be impossible to independently verify.
The language of the case is coded . . .
Using the term "rape" instead of "date rape" leaves out the real context of crime allegations.
Folks who aren't careful with their terminology or the sensitive nature of the case will get justifiably taken to the rhetorical woodshed.

Still, the biased nature of U.S. mainstream reporting is clear . . .
Casual readers will have to check British media outlets to find even a hint at the other side of the he said/she said story . . .

Again, more he said/she said that leaves out the fact this was a date rape and not a more easily defined assault by a stranger.

Let's also not forget that physical evidence is scant at best . . . Here's the main quote from the initial report:
The doctor who treated Daisy the following morning called the prosecutor’s decision to drop the charges “surprising.”
That's it, no beat down evidence . . . Confirmation of sexual contact but no mention of anything brutal.
And now it's getting clear that this "rape" story is suspect . . .

It's a loser's tactic and the evidence in the transcription is scant at best . . .

MAINSTREAM MEDIA SHOULD BE ACCURATE AND REFER TO THIS AS A "DATE RAPE CHARGE" AND NOT SIMPLY A "RAPE" GIVEN THE CONFIRMED RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ACCUSER AND THE SUSPECT!!!
Again, teen relationships are horribly complex and TKC isn't prepared to take a side or pretend to have a a definitive opinion on these charges . . . The only thing that's clear is the Kansas City Star attempted to tell a story about GOP influence in a rural Missouri date rape case that is infinitely more complicated than recent biased reporting reveals.

This would lead one to believe that aside from the fact that she was 14, she could not have legally concented even if she was an adult. That's the law, not a great law, but the law. Suprised this law hasn't bitten your buddy Glazer on the ass yet.

Also the rape kit was performed and 2-4" tear was found. That sounds pretty damn brutal if you ask me. Why does a rape have to result in brutal damages to be considered a rape? I think that's a pretty disgusting question you are posing.

the boys were teens too. This a a sad case but we need to consider if dismissing the case wasn't the wisest course of action. Cases are dismissed all of the time, seems like there is not enough evidence to convict.

Both girls were underage. One boy admitted to forcible intercourse, that the victim repeatedly said "stop", and he was punished for his action. The other boy (of the politically connected family) admitted to intercourse, that the girl was drunk, but claimed she consented to the act.
Rape examination revealed injuries consistent with force, her blood alcohol content was still above the intoxicated threshold hours later. Witnesses reported the girl couldn't stand on her own. A cellphone video of the rape was passed around school. The victim was left outside in freezing temperatures, scantily dressed, outside her home.
The Maryville Police Chief said there was NO DOUBT that a crime had been committed, and he was shocked when charges weren't brought.
The community rallied around their politically prominent family and high school football star, and turned hostile to the new family in town.
This story only reinforces the all too typical attitudes of:
1) Women are sexual objects to be used and enjoyed.
2) Those with money and influence don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
3) The criminal justice system can be manipulated by politicians for their benefit.
4) BLAME THE VICTIM!
SHAME on this blogger who's guilty of #1-4 as well, and should re-read the facts of this case.

I am 100% sure she didn't know the effects of huge amounts of alcohol, nor did she expect to be forced into sex by that same football player, who had been so sweet and attentive till this point. Because she was determined not to let them get away with abusing her daughter, she eventually antagonized many of the people involved in the case who should have been helping her, but that doesn't mean a rapist should go unpunished.

The issue is incapacitation.
Consent/forced is out the window because it's a he said/she said/she dont remember sort of deal.
But if she was drunk when the sex happened, that's incapacitation. And that meana it was not consensual.
Done deal.
Remember, Missouri has a .08 limit now. That's one drink. That will get you a DWI or DUI.

And Missouri Law makes it very clear that 13 years old is off limits entirely. Alcohol or not.
