Early penguin exhibits in KC didn't succeed
Now a new penguin plaza is soon to be unveiled. The project was built on the misguided assumption that broke-ass Jackson County taxpayers should pay for the entertainment of suburbanites so that we can profit from the pennies they might bestow on this town during their visit. This strategy is otherwise known as "tin cup urbanism" and it has yet to work in the P&L District, The Sprint Center or Bartle Hall . . . Sadly, these facts haven't kept Kansas City from doubling down on the Toy Train, an upcoming Convention Hotel in the works and nicer digs for penguins.
