DO YOU FORGIVE ROCK CHALK PROF. DAVID GUTH FOR NRA DEATH WISH TWEET?!?!
A thoughtful apology regarding a controversial University Of Kansas Prof. weet was lost in the mix of weekend news . . .
To the editor:
"My Sept. 16 tweet following the Navy Yard shooting has caused a great deal of pain for many people, and for that I apologize. Some interpreted my tweet differently than it was intended: I don’t want anyone’s children hurt. The fact that my words were misconstrued is my fault — I am the professional communicator and I didn’t do a very good job. For that, I apologize. I also regret that my statements have had a negative impact on the university community. Finally, I am grateful for the support I have received from family, friends, colleagues and many others whom I have never met. It is much appreciated."
Accordingly . . .
DO YOU ACCEPT THE APOLOGY OR STILL THINK THAT THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SHOULD AX THEIR J-SCHOOL, FIRE HIM OR REMIND FUTURE NEWSIES THAT THERE'S NO JOBS OUT THERE FOR REPORTERS?!?!?!
Either way . . . TKC thinks it's important that Prof. Guth realized that his tweet revealed a stunning lack of skill in social media and professional communication skills that he's paid to teach. As for the subject of forgiveness . . . That's another story and it should be noted that some of the most strident free speech advocates feel that it's the prof's rights that have been violated amid a media ruckus.
