DO KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS DESERVE RETURN TO ACCREDITATION?!?

Leaders of Kansas City Public Schools promised this would be a slam dunk and a done deal . . . But the UNACCREDITED KCPS is still a fact of life . . .

Prepare for more disappointment as our long, civic nightmare continues . . .

- AP: Mo. State Board of Education could consider accreditation of Kansas City schools

- Dead Tree Touts Revenge Strategy: Lawsuit likely if state denies KC school district's bid for accreditation

- KMBC: KC schools on Mo. education board's agenda

That's the raw data, now let's look for a better perspective and what most mainstream media reports don't mention . . .

Consider the following . . .

- A leadership change among the KCPS is underway, three board members are leaving and that might change the reality of "hope for change" in the KCPS.

- Violence in The KCPS remains consistent and shamefully unreported - Just like our city - The KCPS problem with school violence remains a critical element in low test scores and overall school FAIL.

- The New Power On The School Board Took A Weed Charge That Nobody Likes To Discuss . . . On the bright side, this could mean that school lunches will have much better snacking options

Accordingly . . .

GIVEN SO MANY ONGOING PROBLEMS . . . DO YOU THINK KANSAS CITY'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS DESERVE A RETURN TO PARTIAL ACCREDITATION?!?!?

Only in Kansas City could the meager accomplishments of the district serve as proof of success . . . And the real story is that MANY PARENTS AND STUDENTS SIMPLY WANT TRANSFER OUT OF THE CURRENTLY UNACCREDITED DISTRICT because the constant hope for turnaround remains unfulfilled.

Developing . . .

  2. There should not be "social promotion" -- i.e. when someone is promoted to the next grade even though they failed the previous one.

  3. Yes, grades should reflect achievement, not just grinding them through like they have been. Give little Johnny an "A", make mommy proud, and then watch him fail all the standardized tests. That's the KCPS model, which is shameful.

  4. Well fuck no! What, return to accreditation so that they can continue to turn out stupid, lazy and violent niggers, with phony-assed educations? Oh sure, that's the ticket, make up some more ways that niggers are almost human..

  5. WAY to many niggers running that show! Never gonna change until you remove niggers that have no idea of education. They should be running a fish fry shack.

  6. So they iz gonna sue if dat tess is raycist>?

Remember when they threw a party and news conference that they got a B minus?

  8. 8:07 Hit the nail on the head. If education is to work like political promotion... sure, give them accreditation. On the other hand, if education is to work based on merit, the State did the right thing. Missouri is typically a state of pure mediocrity and nepotism and socialism is the norm but it is unacceptable and inappropriate when the topic is public education. Everybody will not be able to work for government. Somebody has to work in the private sector. Gosh, governments would be more effective if they hired more competent folks.

  9. I could give a rat's ass about accreditation. However, denying KCPS accreditation means that those scholars will be bussed to the neighboring districts next year. This is a mess for all involved. It is better to give KCPS the provisional accreditation, which it has earned and maintain whatever oversight plan that Nicastro is going to pull out of her ass at sometime in the next decade should she ever get around to it.

  10. It's damned if you do and damned if you don't. They don't deserve accreditation, but the neighboring districts sure as hell don't want KCMO's rejects and shouldn't have to take them just because everything in KCMO is a flop.

  13. Kind of arrogant for kcps to consider a lawsuit for accreditation.

One improved year does not equal accreditation.

Maybe after three years, but not one.

Seven in 10 scholars are still not proficient in the basics.

    That is shameful.

If the state does grant them accreditation it will only be for the benefit of the other districts, and shame on them if that's what their decision is based on.

  14. @7:44 It is hardly shameful if you had a clue what is at stake. The transportation of students to other districts is going to completely obliterate any progress made in the past two years since Covington left us with his half-baked plan. The district needs stability which it has not had in 30+ years. How can you plan for a school year when you have no clue how many students are going to transfer? It would be shameful if it were just a matter of designation, but the consequences for the KCPS and the neighboring districts are much greater than just accreditation or non-accreditation. KCPS has scored well above provisional accreditation and a number of other accredited school districts under MSIP 5. Granting them provisional accreditation is a good move at this time and the state can do so with additional stipulations if need be.

  15. Someone tell me what this accreditation game is. The schools are still operating, no one got fired, everyone is still getting paid. I mean, what the hell gives and why would you care if your school district is accredited. These kids can lay down their billfolds like anyone else and got to college so other than a dog and pony show what is this accreditation bullshit that keeps getting blown up the tax payers asses while property taxes continue to rise?

    ReplyDelete
  16. The accreditation game is if KCPS doesn't get the distinction of "provisionally accredited" they are going to have to shell out $120 million and the taxpayers are going to have to shell out another $40 - $50 million just to keep them afloat. That is what the game is all about now with this f'ed up transfer law that MO has in place now. ST Louis's schools are even worse than KCPS but Nicastro and her cronies granted them provisional accreditation just to avoid the mess they seem KCPS to go through.

  17. Makes no difference what you do the niggers am not going to go and will just rape and fuck up things if they do go.

  18. "The proof is in the pudding" is absolutely a fact. Just speak with a current KCPS senior and you will instantly get an idea of the morons and idiots that are about to be graduated. Sure, there are exceptions but they're just that, exceptions. Most of these "scholars" are completely and totally ignorant.
