TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! HATING THE UNUSED KANSAS CITY BIKE LANES!!!

Just a quick thought because I've got video games to play . . . Check a bit of EXCLUSIVE insight into pricey Kansas City traffic waste.

After an extensive survey of one of our new Downtown cyclist accommodations . . .

KANSAS CITY BIKE LANES ARE MOSTLY UNUSED AND A COMPLETE WASTE OF CASH WHICH MERELY EMBOLDENS THE DANGEROUS LOCAL CYCLIST LOBBY!!!

Today's example . . . Southwest Boulevard bike lanes haven't seen any significant cyclist traffic even on the nicest of days.

But it gets worse . . . Let's not forget that on the Chouteau Bridge, the bicycle and pedestrian retrofitting cost about $2.8 million of a nearly $5 million project. And it's nice that a few hobos will have safter passage but it's hardly a "transit" initiative.

Instead . . . Given that Kansas City Democracy is taking its last dying breaths . . . These useless vanity projects have been nothing more than a way for the middle-class to take part in a pricey bit of special interest politics that doesn't really contribute to anything but boosting egos of housewife activists in training.

And it gets in the way of traffic . . .

And so, Critical Mass still openly defies traffic rules & regs in Kansas City from time to time and because it's expedient . . . Our political elite offer far too much consideration to the cycling lobby in order to offer the appearance of civic engagement on our most trivial Kansas City issue.

  1. There are worse ways we waste money in KC. This is only a drop in the bucket!

  2. Cycling people are all whining assholes who think it's fucking all about them.

  3. I tend to think a single life saved by doing at least SOMETHING to keep cyclists separated from the mindless moron masses who somehow got a drivers license... is a good thing. This city is terrible when it comes to people who can't drive and don't care. When I'm on my bike, I obey traffic laws and stay to the right. I still get assholes nearly sideswiping me or running me over because they didn't feel like stopping. KC is doing a great job adding more trails completely off the roadways, but in some areas these independent lanes will just have to do.

  4. I disagree. I believe it is important to make roads safer and inviting for cyclists. It is disappointing to see them hardly being used, but it's barely an expense compared to other transit accommodations we're making for needy white folks.

Y'know what makes cyclists LESS safe? Streetcar rails. 1 in 3 cycling accidents in cities with rail transit are related to the tire hitting the rail. Even experienced cyclists are affected.

Many cycling advocates are actually against streetcar and light rail, so it baffles me why all of the local efforts have been supportive.

  6. ...I rode a bike down SW Boulevard once.... I must be the one life saved ...thank you

  7. You sure that isn't an image of a murder victim chalked out on the pavement?

  8. Tony, based on your physique it is apparent you don't do any exercise. I rode that stretch today and if the assholes in the cars would quit throwing bottles out the windows and spreading glass all over the bike lanes it would be used more often. You can't even ride in the ped/bike lane on the Heart of America bridge because of the glass.

  9. There's no glass on that road. Stop being a faker.

  10. Critical Mass eqauls density over the volume of whiners on bikes who think they are cars.

  11. Fucking cyclists get what they deserve when they assume the risk of cycling down the road. Nothing was more disgusting than seeing some old irresponsible fucks in John Lennon glasses biking down Emanuel cleaver blvd (let's beat up those who let this street be named after a criminal) with complete disregard for traffic. Made me want to throw up.

  12. Recumbent cycles-forgot to add that beatnik detail

  13. I'm sure that any day now legions of suit wearing lawyers and accountants will be biking down that lane on their way into the office.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't need bicycle lanes. How am I suppose to piss off rednecks and niggers from a bicycle lane?
I seem to be invisible to them unless I'm in the center of the road. I only move to the side when they slow down. Otherwise, I get clipped at high speed.

  15. From the photo, it looks like the road is mostly unused too.

  16. Too bad y'all too fat and lazy to get on a bike and pedal to work. I like to use my money on other things than gas.

  17. How about the lets cover graffiti with graffiti project that was introduced, they paid an out of town power wash company to train "volunteers" to power spray graffiti and cover it with more "acceptable" graffiti .. that was a magical way to spend the money also, we should also buy low riders for the KCMO City Council to ride around in while we still have money to burn

  18. @@@@
WELL SHIT! I WONDERED WHAT THOSE BIKEY THINGS WERE.
WHO KNEW THEY WERE FOR THE SPECIAL PEOPLE?
TONY, I DRIVE ON THEM ALL THE TIME. GETTING TO RICO'S ON THE BLVD, WHY WOULD I NOT DRIVE ON THAT EMPTY LANE?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I can't wait for a bunch of fucks from "Critical Mass" to blow thru a Plaza stoplight and get run over by a big-ass pick-up full of illegals on their way home from the Lowe's parking lot. That would be Soooo Cool!

  20. You American Morons! Just a bunch of stupid hicks!
