TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! ANOTHER $100K FOR JACKSON COUNTY HEALTH RESEARCH TAX!!!

Jackson County is in the middle of a big-money political battle over that's heading up at the end of the summer.

To wit . . .

TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INERGY EXEC JOHN SHERMAN DONATES $100K TO TAX JACKSON COUNTY!!!

Background on John "Stacks" Sherman . . .

"A successful Kansas City entrepreneur and civic leader, John Sherman founded his first startup, LPG Services, in 1991. LPG quickly became one of the nation's largest wholesale propane marketers before it merged with Dynegy in 1996. That same year, Sherman founded Inergy, which went public in 2001. Under his leadership, Inergy has executed a growth strategy that took it from a standing start to more than $2 billion in revenue. Today, Inergy is among the largest independent natural gas storage operators in the United States and a major developer and operator of energy infrastructure.

"Sherman serves on the board of Great Plains Energy, Inc. He also serves on numerous nonprofit boards, including the Truman Presidential Library Institute, the University of Missouri-Kansas City Foundation, Teach For America Kansas City and the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City."

More to the point . . . Campaign finance news is mostly transcription but I like this bit of info because it provides a quick glimpse of the people who decide the fate of the overwhelming majority of Kansas City's populace who don't bother to vote.

  3. Gives a bundle to a pet project while his own employees go without insurance, pay incredibly high rates for insurance, don't have shit for pensions or retirement insurance and then lets talk profit sharing. Welcome to the new America where a good corporate/political play will make you look like a hero when you aren't even close.

  4. Jackson county voters are suckers.

The power elite are fleecing taxpayers for whatever resources they have left. Jackson county needs road repairs and sewers not medical research. Medical research is about making the mission hills crowd more money.

Unbelievable .. The morality of the matter makes one wonder whether our community has any future at all

  5. Yeah all those non-profits a just shams for the elite and don't even get me started on the tax dodging shitheads at Great Plains. They don't pay taxes, hike rates to customers and pay huge bonuses/salaries to CEO and upper management. Those companies are so much of what is wrong with this country. Pardon me of I fail to believe this douche has a philanthropic bone in his body. It's all about a payoff for the elite and screwing the poor and what is left of the middle-class.

  6. If its worth 100K to him to be a big deal in town its his money. I doubt he even cares about the outcome, its all about respect from the elite.

Too bad these types don't actually care enough about their city to fix the real problems.
