Normally, to avoid spam these are filtered and pretty much hidden . . . But the following words of wisdom from Kansas City denizens deserve a bit of special consideration . . .
On The Subject Of The Sprint Center . . .
"I was one that championed the building of Sprint Center and held it up as a huge win for the city (still do to a much smaller extent). I was excited about getting a brand new sports team to go see at the new arena.
Here we are, years later...no team in sight after being told by those in power that, "if we build it, they will come".
It's great that we have a $276 Million dollar glorified concert hall. But that's not what we were being sold when we were asked to approve the funds.
Now the city is back again asking for more money to build a SHORT streetcar line under the promise, AGAIN, of, "if we build it, they will come".
I love the idea of development as much as the next Kansas Citian. But when is enough enough. Particularly when it comes to asking us, the tax payers, for funds? And what if we spend $100M on a publicly financed streetcar line and "they DON'T come"? What then?"

I wish I would have seen this earlier so I could comment in a timely manner. It kills me when I see young folk start working at VML. I want to tell them that the VML environment will suck the life out of them and most likely be partnered with a total asshole who will show them "the ropes." Oh, it pains me. VML is a toxic hole in which souls and destroy creativity. Barf-o-rama."

ReplyDeleteI think the last commenter has his heart in the right place but is certainly ignoring the facts. it is not "hate" to point out reality. And some of these so-called "hateful" commenters have a lot of research on their side. But that is a topic that is too scary to admit.

Everyone knows that we are where we are because of where we came from. Most crime is committed by poor, black, inner city youth. This has nothing to do with the 'nature' of blacks, because there is no such thing. When you make blanket statements about blacks, or Jews or Italians or Irish or any other group, you are being ignorant.
ReplyDeleteFor historical reasons, they formed gangs for self-protection & empowerment, like the Italians, the Irish, & others before them. Most of the violence is 'gang related'. Since they can't complete on the open market, they use the black market (it used to be alcohol, now its drugs.)
Asking why can blacks use the 'N' word & not whites is just stupid. Did you just land on this planet?

You're dead wrong. Racial groups display the characteristics they were selected for, and their natures are as different as their physiology - the brain and personality being a physical characteristic itself. Denying this is a form of creationism popular amongst lefties, but it's wrong and ignorant. Blacks as a group have lower IQs, lower future time orientation, etc. because they were never selected for those traits in Africa. They need 50k more years of evolution before they become what we consider 'people'.

ReplyDeleteMy ex works at VML and there is reason why he's an ex. To be honest, this comment sounds like his writing. I don't know if he is the asshole in mentioned post, but since he's gotten fat lately and struggles with depression, my assumption is no. I don't know if he's the mentioned asshole or person who has to deal with the assholes. Beware, he loves guns and hates most people. He is nice to me, which is odd, considering he really wasn't that nice of person. I suppose time or my 40 pound weight loss, reconstructive facial, body and breast surgery due to a car accident (he was driving by the way--thanks insurance, now I'm really young looking), or my other stuff I got going on (trust fund which I didn't have back then) is the real reason. Who cares, now that I'm away from him, he was a bad person and good for only one thing and even then he was quick draw mcgraw.
ReplyDeleteVML isn't a real ad agency. They're an internet shop owned by a giant conglomerate. They don't do any real creative work -- they just take their marching orders from the real ad agency coming up with the ideas, and make the cool TV commercials. Then it's VML's job to make it work on the interwebs. And they are very good at it -- but it's not real advertising. But no matter how bright and shiny you polish-up a turd, it's still a turd.
