Kansas City Charter Commission Suggests Beefing Up City Hall Cash Reserve
Saw this via social media and it's worth a quick note . . .
"By a 10-2 vote, Mayor Sly's newly formed Charter Commission recommended reinstating a requirement that City Hall set aside from 1 percent to 3 percent of its budget for a contingency fund."
This was an old school requirement that was eliminated back in the says of Mayor Kay . . . Here's what's significant about this factoid . . . The Charter Commission has been mostly focused on Council Districts AND Mayoral power . . . This nod to city finances reveals that people from diverse backgrounds are concerned about Kansas City's worsening financial situation under the leadership of Mayor Sly and Council.
