NEW FACE OF KANSAS CITY POLITICS!!!
Clearly, Kansas City politics is undergoing a makeover that might not be for the best . . .
Some suggest that it's just a matter of time before MO House Rep. Jeremy LaFaver's mugshot becomes some kind of 4/20 meme that celebrates his pot bust.
Meanwhile, representation in the urban core endures a similar new look . . .
To be fair Pastor Brooks didn't earn any kind of mugshot BUT his sexting pix might not be appropriate for the Sunday Church bulletin.
Sadly, Kansas City old school politicos seem to be rather lenient with the misdeeds of these neophytes.
Remember that Congressman Cleaver absolved Pastor Brooks with a somewhat stern admonishment.
And today, Jackson County Exec Mike Sanders argues for LaFaver's pot bust . . .
“Attitudes of 10, 15, 20 years ago are not the attitudes of today,” said Sanders in an interview with KMBC TV, “so not only does it not impact Democrats in Missouri, I don’t think it impacts Jeremy as well, in the long term”.
So, does that mean that EVERYBODY busted for weed in Jackson County will get a similar pass?!?!
Whatever the case . . .
The new Summer look for Kansas City politicos is somewhat shocking but at least offers a reality check for promises of transparency and so much talk of ethics reform that dominates the election cycle but then quickly disappears.
