TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY ZIMMERMAN ACQUITTAL AFTERMATH: ANTI-CRIME ACTIVIST ALONZO WASHINGTON BATTLES KSHB NEWSIE LISA BENSON AND PLAZA 'PEACE' SPIN!!!
Kansas City media is reporting 'quiet' in this cowtown in the aftermath of the George Zimmerman acquittal for the murder of Trayvon Martin.
But, as always, there's more to the story . . .
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY ANTI-CRIME ACTIVIST ALONZO WASHINGTON DID SOME CITIZEN MEDIA REPORTING AND NOTED THAT PLAZA "PEACE" WAS A PRODUCT OF AN OVERWHELMING POLICE PRESENCE!!!
Check this on the scene observation from Mr. Washington last night:
Now the story gets even better . . . Almost as good as today's Fox4 recipe for gazpacho.
Mr. Washington's citizen media reports from the Plaza and throughout the Kansas City area offer just as much perspective as mainstream newsies quick to declare "peace" and calm on the Plaza.
KSHB: Plaza calm following Zimmerman verdict
Now, the most important part of this post . . .
CHECK OUT THE ALONZO WASHINGTON AND NBC ACTION NEWSIE LISA BENSON BATTLING ON TWITTER OVER REPORTING OF CONDITIONS ON KANSAS CITY STREETS!!!
KSHB newsie Lisa Benson starts the kerfuffle by getting a bit huffy regarding Mr. Washington's response on a decision to forgo a TV News interview . . . Mr. Washington was skeptical that TV News wouldn't "send his message" correctly . . .
And then . . . Lisa Benson betrays the real source of her angst by arguing over scoop timing . . . Mainstream media newsies are always sticklers about the timing of their scoops . . .
Thankfully, Mr. Washington ends the argument with a bit of photographic evidence that offers a view of the Kansas City Country Club Plaza on lock down last night . . .
Judging from KCPD response . . . This proof clearly indicates that Mr. Washington's warnings about violence were in line and accurate with other information on local Trayvon rioting threats which were addressed expertly by KCPD. In other words, Alonzo Washington's warnings reveal his dedication to thwarting violence and ensuring cooperation between the community and police.
So what have we learned?
KANSAS CITY MEDIA AND OUR COMMUNITY CAN FIND A REASON TO FIGHT EVEN IN THE MIDST OF RELATIVE PEACE AND CALM!!!
More importantly, what's evident last night's situation is that police, media and community activists worked for the best interests of Kansas City in their own ways . . . The result was relative calm and we can only hope and pray on this Sunday that today's peace endures.
