TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDER CONSIDERS THE IMPLICATIONS OF COUNCIL DUDE RUSS JOHNSON 'ROAD RAGE' ALLEGATIONS!!!

Kansas City Councilman Russ Johnson has refused to answer any questions about a recent traffic incident that some are calling road rage.

The Councilman complained of Fox4 questioning his daughter and that's why he didn't talk. In the meantime he has failed to address repeated and AWESOME TKC social media requests for comment. And we all remember how the Councilman ran away from KMBC reporter Mike Mahoney who just wanted to ask a couple of questions about the airport. Without question . . . The Councilman doesn't seem to want to answer anybody's questions. No question about it. Natch.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS NOTE THAT COUNCIL DUDE RUSS JOHNSON "ROAD RAGE" ALLEGATIONS FOLLOW A PATTERN REPROACHABLE BEHAVIOR!!!

Here's some insightful perspective that considers a possible ethics infraction for the Northland politico IF anybody really cared about ethics at City Hall.

Kansas City Insider On Russ Johnson Road Rage Implications

Kansas City Councilman Russ Johnson was cited by police for "failure to yield and improper passing." According to FOX 4 News, witnesses said:

“He put his own life in danger going into the opposite lane of traffic, could have potentially put someone else’s life in danger and then putting my life in danger whenever he slammed on his brakes so that I rear-end him. I consider that an act of road rage” Morris-Looker said.

The police report cites Johnson for “Failure to Yield and Improper Passing”. The councilman was giving a careless driving ticket, thanks in large part to the testimony of Christoper Bentsen, who told FOX 4: “It was a dumb move. I don’t know how else to say it. It was road rage.”

Is anyone surprised? Johnson's short career as a legislator has demonstrated he has a thin skin. From refusing to answer questions at legislative hearings, constantly complaining about the media and pushing through spending on streetcars and airports with little discussion, Johnson's time on the City Council could likewise be described as "failure to yield and improper passing."

Regarding the driving infraction, Kansas City's Ethics handbook reads [emphasis added]:

Sec. 2-1012. Responsibilities of public office.

Public officials and employees are agents of public purpose and hold office for the benefit of the public. They are bound to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the constitution of this state and to carry out impartially the laws of the nation, state and municipality, and thus to foster respect for all government. They are bound to observe in their official acts the highest standards of morality and to discharge faithfully the duties of their office, regardless of personal considerations, recognizing that the public interest must be their primary concern. Their conduct in both their official and private affairs should be above reproach.

Councilman's Johnson's actions are demonstrably reproachable; he was cited by the police. But should one choose to overlook what may be considered a personal incident, it is clear that Johnson's professional behavior has failed to "foster respect for all government," nor has it achieved, "the highest standards of morality,' or demonstrated that the public interest is his primary concern.

The good news for Johnson is that his colleagues on the Council are just as guilty of mishandling the public trust. They won't call him out on this.

  6. Ha ha - ethics and this bunch in the same sentence - ha ha ha ha ha! Don't you all know they are above any rules the rest of might have to follow? Come on - they are THE CITY COUNCIL. The shits. That means they can do whatever they want. Maybe he can get $15k out of Schulte?

  9. How in the hell did Sly get appointed to some "advisory council" when he can't even keep the jokers in KC in line? Crumbly infrastructure yet we fund toy trains, sewers that will have rats infesting most of the city, endless killings, raging Council reps, thieves of $15k. Hell ya - everyone run a city this way. Hell ya - give him more power.

    Mr. Tony,
I have never cared for Russ Johnson. I have a low tolerance for pure stupidity.

  12. Johnson's biggest problem is that HE thinks he is smarter than everyone else in the city. EVERYONE else is smart enough to know better. That just pisses Johnson off!!!

  20. Wow, Steve Glorioso is working overtime. It's well known he doesn't like Johnson, and has fed this blog lies about the councilman, and stirred other pots as well. TKC, I expected better than just regurgitating whatever garbage Glorioso sends your way. A traffic ticket is hardly an ethical lapse, and it is ludicrous to suggest anyone resign their position over a traffic violation. C'mon people, where is your sense of proportion?
