Sewer Infrastructure FAIL Continues: Kansas City Flooding After Just A Few Inches Of Rain

Once again it's clear that Kansas City's Infrastructure is failing while Mayor Sly and City Council are more interested in pet projects and eco-devo pipe dreams.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS TKC READER PHOTO SENT IN BY A PLAZA DENIZEN FRUSTRATED WITH FLOODING AFTER ONLY A FEW INCHES OF RAIN LAST NIGHT!!!

The message . . .

"TKC - RIDICULOUS. Half of the Plaza was underwater last night and Brookside was no better following a mere 10 minutes of rain. What happened to the mandate from the Feds to fix our storm sewer system? Have we made any progress? None, judging by what I witnessed last night."

The TKC Reader noted that almost every intersection of the Plaza was flooded with at least 2 feet of water which might mean that Kansas City needs to worry about flash floods as well as flash mobs. HAR! Seriously, these witty observations seem to flow so freely on this blog. GENIUS!!! Or at least we're awash in much more insight than our current pool of elected officials.

  1. Now are you SURE you were in the plaza Tony? I mean since you call Brookside "Waldo" we know your geography is a little weak. Could you have been in the Crossroads or Westport? Just checking.

IF the Republicans had not stopped passage of a real public works program to provide counter-cyclical spending in 2009, this work could have all been done and the economy would be in better shape.

  7. At least 2 feet? The car in that photo must have some incredibly tall tires.

  8. And of course, rain only falls at one predetermined rate in any storm, in any given three-hour period. It's not possible to get intense rainfall in certain small areas, in amounts that can overwhelm man-made drainage structures, right Tony? Jeebus, you redefine the concept of fucking idiot.

  10. Why only half flooded. The taxpayers deserve better than that.

  11. It rained for a helluva lot longer than 10 minutes. Try 45 min of torrential rain. Infrastructure can't fix that.
