Jackson County Politicos Eager To Put Property Tax Hot Mess Behind Them!!!

Jackson County politicos would like everybody to forget about recent property tax assessment screw-ups.

The County Assessor took the fall and now politicos are busy telling the populace and voters that nobody really cares about this issue.

However . . .

JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS CONTEND THAT PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT PROBLEMS WILL CONTINUE TO PLAGUE POLITICOS AND PROVIDE RHETORICAL AMMUNITION FOR UPCOMING ELECTIONS!!!

What happened to Crystal Williams?

She send out a couple of e-mails with stale links and her friends at Cafe Trio celebrated.

Sadly, Jackson County Legislator Scott Burnett also appropriated a failed social media "all is well" strategy too.

The controversy has now been blamed on a computer glitch, Curtis Coons and the real estate market . . . Notice that Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders has stayed above the fray.

Meanwhile, the aftermath of this scandal reveals that media management trumps any kind of real explanation or examination of old and busted tax issues.

  4. Actually it worked out just fine (and perhaps as planned). The initial assessments were really high. People screamed. The new assessments are high, but not as high as before, and people are happy to be screwed just a little.

  8. Look out Sanders - your political career in Jackson County government is in the toilet, just like Paula Deen's. And even if we can afford to pay more, and some cannot, taxpayers DO NOT forget the screwing you gave us. And how your cronies got low taxes.

  11. I work in the courthouse and the assessment department had more top level administrator's than any other department. They even had someone above the director (scapegoat) who was not in the exec office - what the heck is that about? With those layers of "supervision" how did this screw up get past the people whose job it is to watch out for taxpayers. Not to mention the oversight the second floor should have been doing! The buck stops...

  12. Mike should drop this "do more with less bull shit" because it cuts workers but leaves untouchable managers alone.
