Kansas City faces an important ethical conundrum regarding Mayor Sly James and the hip-hop career of his son Kyle.

To wit . . .

DOWNPLAYED BY MAINSTREAM MEDIA . . . MAYOR SLY JAMES PULLING STRINGS FOR KJ CONFIRMED THAT THE FATHER AND SON DUO ARE CONNECTED DESPITE THEIR MAINSTREAM MEDIA PROTESTATIONS!!!

To wit . . . Remember that Mayor Sly snapped at newsies attempting to raise the issue of KJ's hip-hop career influencing the Mayor's Office not so long ago.

And then Mayor Sly took to social media to disavow the actions and constant arrest record of his son . . .



Fair enough . . .

BUT JUST THIS WEEK MAYOR SLY WAS REPORTEDLY USING HIS OFFICE IN ORDER TO GARNER FAVOR AMID CAR TROUBLE FOR A VEHICLE HE OWNS WITH KJ!!!

Fact check to Kansas City's top political office holder and his acolytes . . .

MAYOR SLY CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS . . . HE CAN'T DISAVOW HIS SON AND THEN PULL STRINGS TO HELP HIM OUT!!! THEY ARE NOW CONNECTED POLITICALLY WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT!!!



In fact, I always thought disavowing his son was a pretty stupid strategy and reflects poor judgement anyhoo. I get more than my fair share of hateration from you d-bags and my family has not once claimed that they don't know me . . . Sure, they may close the basement door a little tighter from time to time . . . Out of love, only out of love. But I digress . . .

The point here is that the Mayor and KJ are linked in more than a few ways . . .

- Mayor Sly can't effectively speak on the topic of youth violence and parental responsibility as long as KJ is the purveyor of some of the most nasty rhymes in Kansas City.

- KJ can't garner much 'street cred' as a rapper if his Mayor Dad is there to bail him out against anything as much as a vehicle registration infraction.

- And again, they can't have it both ways . . . KANSAS CITY INSIDERS called out Mayor Sly for using his office to help KJ despite the fact that the newspaper quickly attempted to downplay the incident.

On the bright side . . .

KJ RECENTLY DROPPED A NASTY NEW SINGLE AND IT POWERS OUR KANSAS CITY SATURDAY NIGHT SOUNDTRACK!!!

Lyrics and rapping aside, the track is masterfully produced and features some nice changes, thoughtful melody and interesting hooks. KJ's singing is also an important step forward for the artist.

Meanwhile . . . Kansas City political denizens find family political connections unsavory because most of the Ward Parkway Corridor types don't realize that family is much more important than politics and public perceptions.

So, tonight we're rocking this KJ tune, hoping to avoid a Plaza flash mob and realizing that even more of Mayor Sly's inconsistencies are coming to light every day.
