Strange position statement from The Biz Journal that mimics the pronouncement of Kansas City's 1% family and marching orders regarding their namesake stadium: Kemper Arena replacement must be priority

Is the Sprint Center already obsolete?
ReplyDeleteWhere else is the horse show going to move to ...Denver? Let them have it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a far better venue than Sprint Center.
ReplyDeleteKiss and Uncle Ted ROCKED that mutha back in the day! !!!
ReplyDeleteElvis rocked the Municipal Auditorium like nothing ever before OR since!!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt.
DeleteThat area will always be remembered as a stock yard long after the Kempers are gone.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about it before, but the article makes some interesting points. What 5:14 doesn't understand is that events like the American Royal bring visitors and their wallets to KC, which benefits all of us, directly or indirectly. If a new facility could attract similar events, it could be a good niche market to fill. And if we're spending millions on an empty arena sitting there, why not repurpose that money to a new facility? As long as Kemper and cronies pony up for the rest of the building funds, of course. Curious to see the specifics of what they're expecting KC to pay for and what money they have raised privately.
ReplyDeleteWhat 8:22 is delusional to think there is going to be a new Branson or
ReplyDeletesome new circus that's going to bring tourist to KC. No matter what the Kemper's roll out as a plan it's not going to stimulate the economy no more than Union Station or Liberty Memorial. If you can't produce real jobs other than part time work the Kemper's are just blowing smoke up our asses.
