Seriously, let's put this in perspective . . . Hampton Stevens currently writes for The Atlantic and he has taken down gigs for ESPN and Playboy. Mr. Stevens is the "go to guy" for just about every magazine venture in Kansas City and he also contributes to The Star - Hampton Stevens is the scribe for Kansas City's upper claass.
On the bright side, Hampton's "crowdfunding" request kind of reveals that Kansas City's 1% are rather stingy when it comes to paying the people who write nothing but tributes to their winning ways.

Please Help Crowdfund a Camera!
As some of you know, I love taking pictures. It's also part of my job. For the first time in years, I've bought a new camera – the Sony Alpha NEX-5R.
If you have ever liked any of the pictures I've taken and posted here, please consider tossing a buck or two into this campaign to offset the costs of new gear. I'd be truly grateful. My current camera is trusty, but just awful in low-light. The new one is going to be a huge, huge boost, with a cutting-edge sensor, and will make me much better at my job.
Truly, cliche as it may be, every dollar makes a difference, and so does every "Like and Share."
For a little larger donation, I'd be thrilled to come take pictures for you with the new camera. Honored, even. We could take portraits of loved one, of your rock band performing, or maybe get a pictures of your kittycat.

Dude writes for The Atlantic and can't afford a $550 camera? I've seen the way Hampton dresses, so I know he's not spending money on clothes. Either he's got a shitty literary agent, or he's just cheap.
