Explaining 'The Great War' FAIL

Newspaper promo for something that might actually be worth a look given that most historians don't agree about what really started "The War To End All Wars" that didn't: Liberty Memorial exhibit looks at the origins of World War I

  1. Stupidest war in history.

My Grandfather was machine gunned in the guts and mustard gassed in Belleau Wood.

"And let all sleep, while to my shame I see
The imminent death of twenty thousand men
That for a fantasy and trick of fame
Go to their graves like beds, fight for a plot
Whereon the numbers cannot try the cause,
Which is not tomb enough and continent
To hide the slain? O, from this time forth,
My thoughts be bloody, or be nothing worth!"

Still, it is one of the most impressive places in America to go and enjoy some of the history of this country.

Astonishing in it's scope and yet one is still able to go through it in an afternoon, it is, a time machine that takes you back to those bloody days and lets you experience what this disaster was like, unbloodied, if not unsullied when you leave.

It is a world class exhibit that will do more to teach you, or anyone American history, than any college credit course in America, in my opinion.

  2. chuck... i totally agree with you about the museum. but WW1 was not the stupidest war in history. (i think bush's war on iraq ranks higher.) if you understand the deep rooted causes behind it, one nearly has to think it was unavoidable.

  3. oh... i should add, my grandfather was a gunner on dirigibles that were used to hunt submarines.

  7. Will Liberty Memorial's Director Doran Cart be masturbating while he takes pictures of museum visitors and shares nude photos of himself and his wife on the internet .... again?
