Plans for new lines in the 3rd and 4th district already eating up the budget at City Hall: Kansas City has committed $1.89 million to plan possible streetcar lines extending south, west and east from the city’s planned 2.2-mile, $102 million Main Street line.

  1. How far is this idiocy going to go before someone puts a stop to it?? City Council, anyone????

  2. The thugs are for it. I mean you get all those rich white people on it and they will be easy to rob.

  3. City Council isn't going to stop it, they are in on it. Everyone of them has a personal or family member financial stake and is going to make money off of these toy trains.

  5. Why in the hell is this city planning on expansion when we don't even have the starter line built?

    Ludicrous

  6. Can't the State of Missouri step in and do something here?? Is the Mayor a law unto himself??

  7. Russ Johnson is probably the biggest culprit.

"If it is possible and a good idea, I can get it built: streetcars, trails, software, streets, buildings, etc. etc. etc"

  8. We have to get the State to take over City Hall. The taxpayers want basic services and reduced taxes.

  9. Before throwing good money after bad, could Sly tell us the names of the companies moving downtown because of phase one?

  10. Finally. KC is making big moves, acting the the big, cool fun city it is.

A streetcar extension to the Plaza or UMKC is the single best investment of money this city can make in its future.

  13. All the grand plans for development and modernization will fall apart if the state is incapable of protecting its citizens from criminal lawlessness.

  15. The best investment of money this city can make in its future is to get rid of the current mini cabal down at city hall.

Put people in who are able to act with fiscal responsibility instead of acting like crack heads.

  17. I don't want to live in a fun, cool city. I want to live in a safe city with low cost of living and good schools.

3:18 hits the nail on the head... they're rushing to expand this before the city even has a chance to see that all of their sales pitches are false.

The economic impact data is inflated and the cost to build in low balled. Unless you live within a few blocks of the TDD, (most residents along main streets are generally low rent apartment dwellers) you won't even get to vote.

They will install a train without your permission, and it will cost more to shop at your favorite mom and pop store that you've been going to for years... that is, if they don't go out of business.
