TKC TOLD YA SO!!! THE JACKSON COUNTY MIKE SANDERS TOY TRAIN IS KAPUT!!!

Transit efforts that this blog (and just about everybody else) had tagged as "vaporware" long ago . . .

The two railroads crucial to plans for commuter rail service in Eastern Jackson County and elsewhere in the metro area are at a standoff, says Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders.

More . . .

Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders delivered stunning news this afternoon to area mayors and transit advocates. He won’t seek voter support for a tax increase this August to build a commuter rail system in the county, or to enhance the county’s trails and bus systems.

Sadly, this means fewer transit options for suburbanites . . . On the bright side, nobody wanted to go to Eastern Jack anyhoo . . .

  6. Corporations attack the public interest once again.

The only thing I blame Mike for is playing nice as a "centrist" when he should have gone after them with a fire axe.

His name is Warren Erdman, an operative for Kit Bond who lobbies with out violating federal law against former Senators lobbying for two years after leaving office.

Perhaps there is still a journalist in town who has the weight between the legs to look at that?

Oh, and who pays the arguably corrupt former Senator: Sly James.

  8. Erdman and Haverty are republican jack-offs. This is all about THEIR GREED, and the regular folks of KC suffer so their stock options can go up 5%.

  9. Wow. Huge setback for Sly and KC government. His streetcar only worked if there were 2-4,000 perople dropped off at 3rd and Grand everyday. Without it, it will flop miserably. Wow.

  10. What does Erdman gain? Not doubting anything, just wanting to know specifically what to look at.

  11. Instead of worrying about transit he needs to concentrate his efforts and dollars on county services as they continue to let employees go that are in position to help tax-payers but hire high dollar folks like cathy jolley and what ever happen to Teresa York?

He loves all of the press attention.

  13. So since the streetcar was to be the "starter line" and rail from/to the burbs is a non-starter, when is SOMEBODY in power (Maybe the streetcar Authority) going to acknowledge that the streetcar really is not going to work out for KC?
