Kansas City rail transit has created nothing but hard feelings in the world of local politics as of late.
From behind the scenes, we have NEW DETAILS of the latest, local political transit smackdown betwixt two elected official juggernauts.

ON BACKGROUND, KANSAS CITY INSIDERS ARE CALLING OUT MAYOR SLY AND HIS PEOPLE FOR KILLING COMMUTER RAIL IN JACKSON COUNTY!!!
The story is simple and represents the same old Kansas City political backroom dealing that has defined this town for more than a generation.
Here's a description that we've heard and checked out with a couple of people:
"His (Mayor Sly's) people came to (Jackson County Executive) Mike (Sanders) and told him to back off his plan until they were done with the downtown line. (Jackson County Executive) Mike (Sanders) basically told them to go f#*k themselves and the situation deteriorated from there . . ."
More . . .
"From that point, Mayor Sly('s people) went behind everyone's back and got a hold of Union Station to pull them out of the plan. Without that, and with Sly's people leaning on KC Southern as well, there was really nothing Jackson County could do."
A note about the tactics of these so-called transit supporters . . .
"This was nothing less than political sabotage and it shows that Mayor Sly and his people don't really have much concern for transit. They just want to get their way and put their project in front of everybody else."
What's worse and in the aftermath of Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders admitting defeat and calling off his current rail effort . . .
SCORE THIS AS A MAJOR VICTORY FOR KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY IN HIS ONGOING BEHIND THE SCENES GRUDGE MATCH AGAINST JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS!!!
More to the point . . .
Mayor Sly's toy train supporters are following a caustic pattern of behavior when it comes enforcing their political will. Remember that the Kansas City small business community stood up against the Toy Train and Mayor Sly's transit supporters were quick to threaten boycotts and engaged in more than a bit of online smack talk.
Like it or not, what we're seeing is, behind the scenes, some of Mayor Sly's people don't smile as much as the Mayor does in public and they are quickly earning a reputation for SUCCESSFULLY DERAILING any project they don't like in Kansas City.

This post is moronic, Sly's street car ONLY works if there are people dropped off at 3rd and Grand. Without the commuter routes, the street car will go down as a massive failure. Moving 150 people 5 blocks north to south isn;t transit. It wouild be a waste.
