Kansas City is home to many advocacy organizations but here's an interesting and new development from the LGBT community . . .
THERE HAS BEEN A BIT OF RECENT CONSOLIDATION AMONG LOCAL LGBT ORGANIZATIONS THAT HAS GIVEN RISE TO THE KANSAS CITY DIVERSITY COALITION!!!
Details . . .
"LGCCKC and Show Me Pride, LLC has merged together to become the non profit called Kansas City Diversity Coalition(KCDC). KCDC a not for profit organization that will handle the events, fundraisers, and community outreach that were put on by LGCCKC and Show Me Pride, LLC including Pride Festival, Outfest, Gay Days at Worlds of Fun, and the Educational Symposiums."
The mission of the new group . . .
"Kansas City Diversity Coalition is committed to facilitating leadership and coalition building for the empowerment of LGBTQIA individuals in the Kansas City Metro Area through Advocacy, Education, and Community Development"
The vision of the group is to help create "a community that celebrates, embraces and furthers diversity and the agenda of equal rights" which is a commendable goal given so much local hateration. Kudos to the group on their signage which offers kind of a unique spin on the quirky Kansas City CVA asterisk symbol.
Finally, we were glad to get the invitation to "like" this group via Facebook from local activist Mase Hakes who is not a TKC TIPSTER but seems committed to the cause of fostering diversity in Kansas City.

WHY is "diversity" such a sought after goal? Why not just leave "to each his own" and quit trying to force mix society. It ain't gonna work! Especially with queers and NORMAL people.
