Anti-Crime Activist sees success in the NRA reaching out to African Americans.

30 percent of African Americans are registered gun owners. Unfortunately, African Americans are the number one victims of gun violence in America. Although, that statistic is troubling long time anti-violence advocate sees progress in the NRA reaching out to African Americans. For years Alonzo Washington & others have fought to get this powerful organization to address guns in urban America. Finally, they have in a series of Youtube videos.

Mr. Washington has been working with national gun companies & the Kansas Rifle Association to help urban youth see guns in a none criminal way by introducing them to the shooting sports. The slogan of the program is "Shoot targets & not each other". He also have had success in getting a select group of gun companies to support anti-crime efforts in the metro with the 3-Gun for Peace Project. Recently, Mr. Washington joined the NRA in hopes of getting the organization & gun companies to address gun violence in urban America. Mr. Washington sees the new NRA ads targeting the national Black community as a step in the right direction.
