TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! LIVE FROM THE UNION STATION STREETCAR OPEN HOUSE!!! KANSAS CITY SPENDS MORE THAN $100 MILLION ON A DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS GULLY T-SHIRT!!!

Kansas City is coming out in full force for tonight's Downtown Kansas City Streetcar open house at Union Station.

At the kick-off there were already hundreds making their way through the exhibit.

However . . .

TKC WAS KINDA PISSED THAT THERE WASN'T A MINI-TOY TRAIN STREETCAR ON DISPLAY!!! WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!!

Seriously, considering the project is taking up WAY MORE THAN $100 MILLION . . . Somebody local should have earned the model train contract.

Instead, there were a lot of maps and posters . . .

And even a multi-media presentation . . .

Here's a look at the table size segment map. See if you can spot your Kansas City biz or trendy loft/condo . . .

Here are the aforementioned t-shirt freebies . . .

SPECIAL THANKS TO STREETCAR SUPPORTER DAVID FOR NOT ONLY HOOKING TKC UP WITH A FREE STREETCAR T-SHIRT BUT ALSO GIVING US THE LAST XL SIZE IN STOCK!!!

The very kind t-shirt freebie gesture made me realize that I only have so much anger to vent every day . . . So I want to conserve it. No, I do not agree with the EXPENSIVE toy train hot mess.

But we'll talk about some more specific disagreements in just a bit.

Now back at home . . . Wondering where I'll debut my TKC TOY TRAIN T-shirt.

Hopefully, more later . . .

XL will fit TKC like spandex. Hasn't Glazerrrrrrrrrrrrr invited you to workout at Woodside with him? Guess he's not really your bud since he gave Hearne THE EXCLUSIVE on opening back up a shop in Westport. He's just using you Tony. He still is in love with Hearne 'cause that's where all the cool kids post and comment.

Kansas City Council committee endorses major soccer complex at Swope Park. Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders told the committee. “There’s a huge need for sporting fields that needs to be filled.”

We're officially on the road to bankruptcy.

The lessons of the Kansas City Schools Desegregation experiment should stand as a warning to those who would use massive funding and gold-plated buildings to "fix things".

No win.

Hey Tony, no blogging about drones killing americans on american soil without due process?

Who paid for the t-shirts? Oh I get it , it's coming out of the $200,000,000.

I'll tell you this, KC is on a road to nowhere and we soon won't have any money left in the bank and none to borrow. They say the street car will save us but they don't say how.

What if we build it and they don't come? Has anyone even asked that question?

looks like they rendered the drawing to actual size.

Lol.

Funk wins.

They can do all the fluff they want. But bottomline is nobody wants it, nobody will ride it, and no way can KC afford the $2+ it will cost. BTW-safe bet David and his friends will move to Olathe in a few years and we will be stuck throwing good money after bad.

Hey! That's Pancho Villa and he always took the train. Literally!

lol.

Train isn't so bad. It's the hotel that we should fear.

Anonymous said...

Yep -it's like having the shoes to go with the dress - you have to have the hotel to go with the toy train!

Fucck the t-shirts.

100 million on a street car, no million for education. Way to go KCMO! You have an unaccredited school district, but by golly you need that street car.

At least the local citizens have not given up hope on the district through charitable contributions of specific needs.

Im sure there will be another new tax coming for us before too long.

But hey Tony got a T-shirt so all is good.

lol. I think he's being ironic.

Lotta money involved here. But I think this concept was hatched before the REPUBLICAN austerity program took over the government.

I think this is a waste of time. Clearly this is NOT a national priority given the economic times. This is a project only suitable for a society FLUSH with money, and clearly we're not.

I'll be surprised if this comes to pass right now. The local engineering companies need to find another project! This one ain't it! The money ain't there.

That open house was the biggest dog and pony show I've ever seen. A pure PR play to try and counter the growing streetcar backlash. They could care less about the concerns of the businesses. The have already decided what they are going to do, how they are going to do it, and businesses be damned.
