TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN PARKING COMPANIES PREPARE TO CHARGE CRAZY FEES FOR MARCH MADNESS!!!

With help from AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS we have a bit of proof that Downtown Kansas City is soon to turn into a hot mess of fines and parking gouging and enforcement schemes.

Check it:

TAKE A LOOK AT A KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN PARKING COMPANY MEMO THAT PREPARES TO GOUGE MARCH MADNESS VISITORS INSIDE THE LOOP!!!

The awesome TKC TIPSTER has highlighted the important parts of the memo and expresses a bit of frustration with this "huge monopoly" of a Kansas City parking company.

Even worse . . .

Another insider warns us . . .

"TKC, for March Madness in Downtown KC I've heard that parking is going as high as $50 in some places thanks the economy that's "rebounding" according to all of your liberal friends. This is sure to drive people away from Downtown in the long run and represents a significant spike over what seemed like high prices last year."

After the jump . . . Check the memo noting other parking arrangements.

MEMO TO THE TIFC

FYI . . .

Commissioners / Visitors:

Next week is the Big 12 Tournament which will substantially affect traffic in the downtown area.

Following are important street closures and parking restrictions for the Town Pavilion Parking Garage.

Grand Boulevard (between 13th Street and Truman Road) will close at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 11 through midnight on Sunday March 17th.

14th Street (Between Walnut and Grand) Same time as Grand above.

Walnut Street between 14th Street and Truman) from Tuesday, March 12th through midnight on Sunday March 17th.

There is also the Big 12 Fun Run and Family stroll. Attached is a map of the areas affected. It is not in our area however it begins just south of Town Pavilion Garage and may affect those coming in to work on that Saturday morning.

We will operate the garages the same way we did last year, protecting stalls during the day then selling for the evening sessions. Just a reminder, tenants are not permitted to use their vouchers for guests to park for the games. If you do have clients that you would like to take to the games, please contact me so that we can arrange VIP parking for them.

Everyone should expect delays traveling to and from work due to the high traffic in the area. We are working directly with the traffic division of KCPD however we are at the mercy of street and highway traffic. If the streets around us are congested it is likely there could be a delay in entering and exiting the garage. Please be assured that our staff will be working diligently to ensure the quickest entrance and exit possible. In keeping with the message the City of Kansas City, Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association, Downtown Council and other groups will be relaying to the public, those traveling downtown should expect delays during the rush hours and plan accordingly. When Town Pavilion Garage parkers and Main Street Garage parkers arrive they should should hold up their key card to the cashier to be let in. Please remind your parkers to scan their badges even though the gates are up. Visitors to the buildings should indicate to the cashiers that they are here for business purposes and identify the tenant they are visiting. All cashiers will have a list of tenants for the buildings.

I will be on site or in close proximity for a majority of the event. If anyone has any questions concerns, etc... they are welcome to call . . .

How is this any different than what parking companies EVERYWHERE do when there's a big event coming through town? Real hard hitting news here.

I live close enough that a cab ride to and from is still cheaper than parking. Good luck to all you suckers who have to pay to park!

ummm..park and ride a bus.

Anonymous said...

What happened to the free market, commie bastard.

Anonymous said...

Free market... don't want to pay that much? Get off your lazy ass & walk a few more blocks or park & ride the bus. BOO HOO for the folks that pay the big bucks to go to the games.

If the NIGGERS don't rob you enough on the street, they'll do it through parking fees and other "enhancements", to gig you while you're downtown to worship the large, NIGGER athletes.

Someone please tell me exactly why anyone in their right mind would find it appealing to go to KC during March madness ....or any other time for that matter.

Hey, ride the toy train

Who really wants to watch basketball anyway? Just 10 thugs dribbling a ball.

You call em "thugs", I call em "NIGGERS". Same thing though..

A REAL city government would regulate this. I'm sure ours is trying to figure out how to make money off of it. Maybe they could have emergency event routes and tow all the cars parked on the street around the events downtown. Then they could tax the shit out of these parking lot barons.

Why they call it March Madness

Anonymous said...

Paying for parking is for suckers. Those with pull have free prepaid parking passes.

Anonymous said...

The high parking fees are to encourage the hoopty drivers to leave the driving to the Metro.

Why can't we have street parking downtown. We don't need six lane wide one way streets. Let's work toward making downtown friendly.

Anonymous said...

5:11, have you been outside of Lawrence, Lansing or Leavenworth before? This is pretty par for the course in almost any major city.

Anonymous said...

Six lane? Where specifically?

Anonymous said...

We should drone cars that are illegally parked. Boy if Bush were in office and wanted to use drones against US citizens......

Stay at home and watch it on tv for free

Like I need to drive into KC hell to get robbed? How 'bout you trade the train for a couple of good 8 story, 50 cents an hour parking garages located in the midtown hell hole.
