THE TKC WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS!!!

At the end of this eventful Kansas City work week . . . Carly Baker looks rather kick-ass amid her UFC adventures . . . And everyone notices the strong smell of a MASSIVE 11LB WEEK BUST IN THE NORTHLAND.

Meanwhile . . . Check this week's list of the strongest on the local scene:

POLITICOS

Kansas City Mayor Sly James - Recovering from some major missteps. There's not a reporter in town willing to cross him thanks to his overwhelming charisma.

MO Secretary Of State Jason Kander - Fulfilling promises to vets and other early voters.

Congressman Kevin Yoder - His ability to make GOP reactionary monetary policy seem not so crazy is a powerful skill.

Congressman Cleaver - Still Kansas City's most influential elected official in D.C.

Council Lady Jan Marcason - Coming out of Mayor Sly's shadow and making quite a bit of noise for the toy train closer to UMKC and other pet projects.

NEWSIES

Ryan Kath - KSHB dominated JJ's Aftermath Coverage and Kath's reporting was a big part of the equation.

Eric Chaloux - An EPIC water investigation got a few results this week.

Hey Cameraman - Kansas City's Social media and digital new gathering guide.

Bottom Line Communications - John Landsberg - Our mainstream media competition GOLD STANDARD.

DeAnn Smith - Digital Content manager extraordinaire who isn't afraid to rewrite her partners @ The Star.

OVERPOWERING THE KANSAS CITY SNOW

Paying Hobos For Work - For just a few moments there's honest work on local streets.

Justifying That Stupid SUV - A few days in snow justifies screwed up middle-class credit.

Waiting For Kansas City Trash Pickup - Piled high in Brookside.

Realizing That It Snowed In Kansas Too - Biz poaching still doesn't offer refuge from the weather.

Local fatties enjoying the last days of sweater weather - Often the cold weather inspires confidence.

As always, this list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people.

  1. Wrong about Sly.

You keep going back and forth on him.

  2. He didn't do too bad this week. The streets are relatively clear. That's all that matters.

  3. Wait until Monday when the City starts iissuing violation notices to residents for not shoveling their sidewalks.

  4. Sly is a bully. He strong-armed the Council, cowed the media, and uses social media to shout down anyone with a different experience or point of view.

  5. Did you see how quickly the Mayor ran away from the camera and pushed Berardi in front of it when Ryan Kath came asking questions about JJ's?

Bu you could ell the words were all Sly's: "I'm not going to speculate about (the Fire Department leaving the scene to MGE, whether CG meters should be on trucks responding to reported natrual leaks, does policy need to be changed, etc., etc., etc.).

  10. Thank goodness I live in JOCO and dont have to worry about the many messes in KCMO.

I can not even imagine what kind of shenanigans would be going on if Sly was our mayor! I tell you what we would not have let him sneak a 100 million dollar tax through for a few miles of street car.
