The Kansas City JJ's Inferno Round-Up!!!

Let's remember that all of this is the fault of a fax machine . . .

Fox4: Firefighters say the cause of the deadly blast and fire at JJ’s restaurant on the Plaza was caused by an underground gas line being damaged that produced a natural gas release outside the restaurant.

Star: The pilot light on a stove and hot water heater were still on when natural gas ignited, causing the fatal explosion that destroyed JJ's restaurant on Feb. 19, according to a report released today.

KCTV5: Pilot lights not turned off at JJ's Restaurant before explosion

KMBC: Official report blames natural gas vapors in J.J.'s blast

KSHB: KCMO permits approved after digging done

Why didn't the geniuses at KCFD who are so brilliant in the report take charge of the scene before the explosion?

read the report.

You bastard! This is libel. No reasonable person or trained firefighting professions would have thought to blow out the pilot lights? Do you think we are Gods?

You would think the first thing KCFD would when they got on the scene before the explosion was to do a through inspection to make sure all open flames were shut off. Sounds like the fire fighters need some more training.

i have an idea lets have a fund raiser so the fireman can have counseling for being so stupid

If MGE had shut off the gas line the pilot lights have gone off.

That is a question for MGE, why did they not shut off the gas line? Most probably they did not know where the shutoff valves were located. Shades of PG&E in SF, CA.

How many people know how to turn off their pilot lights? Obviously, the firefighters should have done the work, rather than ordering civilians to do what they should know how to do but might not have known.

big fucking red valve labelled OFF is usually what you'd look for. i bet if you took 3 seconds to look, you might see it on your water heater.

Why all this press
? It isn't like a pizza hut blew up ...sheesh!

fire department can shut the gas of outside which in turn kills the pilot lights.
At least thats what the fire crew did when they came to my house after the drunk asshole lost control of the car and hit my gas meter.
