SPRINGTIME: CYCLING KANSAS CITY!!!

A quick compilation of bicycle clips as the weather starts to get warmer . . .

Follow-up from news earlier this week . . . Tagline: "Burning Calories Instead Of Fossil Fuels" . . . Congressman Cleaver leads a group of cyclists on Van Brunt and Brush Creek:

Bicycling Kansas City's Green Impact Zone

Another Kansas City biking tradition . . .

Critical Mass - Kansas City

Critical Mass is a group of militant local cyclists. They take over streets during warm weather and it looks like they already made their presence felt mobbing Plaza streets.

Finally, this clip goes back just a bit but it's worth a second look . . .

KCPT offers insight into transit alternatives . . .

Imagine KC: Biking - KCPT

Youtube detail:

"Streets augmented by landscaping, sidewalks and bike lanes invite us to abandon the car for that quick trip to the park or store and walk or bike instead. And although we don't always think of Kansas City as a big biking community, that picture is starting to change."

And it can be a great physical activity - In Kansas City, biking is also a political act that comes with its own set of challenges, criticisms and dangers.

  2. Just yell share the road idiots!!! when you come across these mutants on their bikes getting in the way of what streets are designed for. Cars.

  3. I like how the cities make bike lanes for these retards and they use the whole road instead. But if I drive over in the bike lane to get around them I'm the one who will probably get a ticket.

But least you don't have to worry about them running into you from texting while riding.

  6. I hope some one, like the police will enforce the traffic laws on these suicide cultists. But on the other part, a squishee one or two may get the idea of seperation thru to The other part of their brain. I hope they get off the "better then thou" bullshit. They are trying to force "european" culture on the midwest, thats bs also. You see, even the Indians left the area in the summertime. because of the heat, going south to the moutains of arkansas and south missouri. This area is ment for tourists, not settlers, as a waystop. Remember the attlemen.

  7. They need to start making the bike riders pay taxes. They use the streets and they want rights. Make start paying some taxes than they get the same rights.

  8. I wish bike riders would stop telling me how to live my life. They lecture and often nag others who simply don't share their enthusiasm for biking. I am a runner. Other people prefer ballroom dancing. Let each person do what he prefers. Stop being sanctimonious preachers. And for goodness sake, STOP telling me to ride a bike to the grocery store. Do you know how I grocery shop? It's not in dribs and drabs. I need my car to haul what I buy for my family. Leave other people alone, you biker busybodies.
