What do you expect when the people oof KC are STUPID enough to elect such a creature as Mayor?

Why not have an adopt a pothole program. People can pay $100.00 to have a pothole filled and have a little plaque with their name on it embedded in the asphalt.

Why not fill the potholes with the feral criminals of KC?

So we can now add "no potholes ever" to the list of demands Tony makes of the city.

Let's see, what do we have now?

1. Snow cleared from every street immediately after every blizzard, and not just pushed to the side, but picked up and moved.

2. No requirement for people to take care of the sidewalk in front of their own homes.

3. No interruption of trash service because of the weather.

4. And no taxes to pay for any of it.

Our toy train is gonna fix that! People will no longer have to own cars! So we won't need to worry about roads anymore!

And best of all it's FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's three ways to make money according to the Italians. Marry into it, Inherit it, Steal it.

Sly must have a lot of Italian lawyers on the city advisory board.

Put my request in three weeks ago to 311 to fill a hole and it is still there today.

Listened to Scott Taylor talking smack about his wife's boss at the county in City Hall last week. Apperently she has to teach them everything. Skippy Sanders generally does not show up for work but when he does it takes half her day to bring him up-to-date on the poor technical support she receives. So Tony the city may not be super efficient, but it sure sounds better than the county.

8:37 playing straw man again.

You pound Tony (sometimes rightly) for misreading stories. But here you do the same (again, just as in your defenses of snow removal, sidewalk policies, and trash pickup).

Tony doesn't say "no potholes ever" as you claim he does. He says the streets look worse than ever in spite Mayor Sly's promises of infrastructure repair (and better delivery of City services).

The City budgets about $40 per lane mile for pot hole repair ($300k for roughly 6400 lane miles). Defend that number.

KC averages almost 19 inches of snow each winter. And according to Mayor Sly, snow removal costs about $175k per inch of snow. That's means about $3.5M should be budgeted for snow removal. The City budgeted $2.75M for snow removal (albeit they still had last year's salt inventory on hand).

The City knew it was going to snow. But they wait until after heir snow plows have iced in residents sidewalks to announce enforcement of the snow removal ordinance. And hypocritically, do little to nothing to clear the sidewalks that are theirs.

And the trash? The City said trash removal would be delayed due to the snow. Fair enough. But then they fail to meet th revised schedule that they themselves set. And once the trash is set out for a day or two in the melting snow, the bags get frozen to the ground. So anyone trying to pick them up is going to make a mess.

And these are but the most recent examples of poor management and administration of City services.

Sly knew this when he campaigned for the job of Mayor. And he promised to fix it. Well, maybe instead of making excuses and blowing smoke up residents' asses, either in person or by proxy, he should get off his and do what he promised.

They certainly can and do speak for themselves, but THAT'S what I hear Tony and the other posters to this blog saying.

Ah, I see the whiners checked in.

Sorry, but my street was plowed, my trash was picked up, I wasn't too damned lazy to shovel my sidewalk so the city's warning didn't apply to me, and I didn't have to dodge a single pothole all the way into my drive to work this morning.

But of course, you were the innocent victim of all that, so that means your experience is universal --- the snow wasn't plowed, the trash wasn't picked up, city thugs gave you a $100 ticket for not shoveling your walk, and your streets are now crumbling.

Go make up some more stories so you can cry all day.

Thank you Tony for keeping this alive. The Kansas City Missouri streets are a mess. Horrible mess. Potholes and flat out road failure and buckling are everywhere. The problem only gets worse. Calls to the Action Center generate case numbers but the issues are ignored for months on end. Even worse, city workers lie, say the repair is made, and close the case number. I have personally seen it with cases that I have initiated, re-initiated, and directly called City Hall Water and Public works depts. Very little works.

Again, 11:41 universalizes THEIR experience, dodges the issues, and makes ad hominem attacks while completely failing to respond to the facts presented or points made. Such a sad excuse of an apologist.

11:43/12:07, the specific charge that Tony makes is that "streets are crumbling."

In support of that, he links to a TV news story that shows that potholes have appeared AFTER the snow. How surprising.

Now, since Tony didn't do so, can you provide evidence of crumbling streets? And not just potholes?

After all, "Potholes and flat out road failure and buckling are everywhere" but nobody ever seems to get around to saying where.

Now that you have given up on the snow removal and trash arguments, and tacitly admitted to being guilty of universalization and childish ad hominem attacks on anyone who presents fault with the City's actions, it's time to point out that you are WRONG AGAIN, 1:25.

Tony's charge is not that the streets are crumbling. It's that they are in just as bad of shape now despite the Mayor's promise to fix it.

And if you're not satisfied that potholes constitute crumbling streets, I doubt any evidence will "suffice"? not only that, but even if examples of where streets are crumbling were provided, as you ask, it would only serve to further your argument that persons on this blog are simply universilizing their individual experiences, an that it is not representative of the condition of the streets as a whole.

How about you answer the challenge posed by 10:50. $40 per lane mile for pothole repair. Sufficient? Again, these are potholes that you concede are no surprise to anyone.

"Tony's charge is not that the streets are crumbling."

Tony's headline: SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY STREETS CRUMBLE UNDER MAYOR SLY JAMES!!!

Tony's story: DESPITE A SEVERE SPIKE IN TAXES, KANSAS CITY STREETS LOOK WORSE THAN EVER!!!

For emphasis: Not "in just as bad of shape' but "WORST THAN EVER!!"

You know, you should be at least smart enough not to LIE ABOUT WORDS THAT ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE'S FREAKIN' EYES!!

Anonymous said...

Oh, and excuse me, since you obviously can't read and would deny the truth staring you right in the face, if I call bullshit on your claim about the city budget for potholes.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, right asshole.

Read the WHOLE FUCKING THING. And then try comprehending the concept of dependent clauses. Maybe if you wouldn't selectively read and edit comments, you could understand the point. It's as clear as the one on top of your head.

And call bullshit or whatever you want, but the City's budget for filling potholes came from a screen shot at the beginning of the story by KCTV5 that was linked to in Tony's story. Again, read the whole fucking thing, moron.

You suck at this, dude. You lost the snow plow arguments; the point about the sidewalk clearing policy; the trash pickup fiasco; the snow removal budget point; the universalization matter; agreed that no evidence of crumbling streets would be good enough for you; you continue to selectively edit everything you see and read; and you continue to call bullshit on everyone and everything that doesn't comport with your small world view.

You should take up something more consistent with your intellect. Like hopscotch. And it's okay if you can't count all the way to 10. I'm done with you.

Anonymous said...

Oh I see. Tony really didn't really say "KANSAS CITY STREETS CRUMBLE".

It was just a "dependant clause".

BWAAAHAHAHAHA!

Give it up, fella. The streets got plowed, the trash got picked up, there weren't hoardes of tickets written for sidewalks, and the streets aren't crumbling.

But you look like a bigger fool by the minute.

Anonymous said...

So your source for your figure for pothole repair is a screen shot off KCTV5.

Once again:

BWAAAAHAHAHA!
