ONE MORE TKC BLOG READER QUESTION ABOUT TONIGHT'S JJ'S BENEFIT!!!

As I'm sitting here waiting for a frightened campaign manager to return my call . . . I'm pretty sure that this blog is the last place for dissent in Kansas City. No "ur Facebooks" doesn't count because your friends just ignore, tolerate or don't really care about what you think.

Anyhoo . . .

CHECK AN IMPORTANT QUESTION ABOUT THE JJ'S BENEFIT FROM A THOUGHTFUL TKC READER!!!

"How much money will be going towards the causes Megan Cramer lived for?" LGBTQ and Prisoners Rights? My guess, $0."

Still . . . The quandry doesn't make the cause any less worthwhile . . . Here are the deets for those who plan on venturing out to the celebration of Kansas City 3-Star Restaurant workers this evening . . .

Friends Of JJ's Benefit @ The Uptown Tonight

Join the Friends of JJ’s at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 at the Uptown Theater for a party with JJ’s Restaurant owners, staff, patrons and friends in support of JJ's employees impacted by a devastating fire on Feb. 19, 2013.

Hosted by former Chiefs player, Eddie Kennison and KCTV5’s Kelly Jones, attendees will enjoy food and drink from area restaurants while listening to live music on multiple stages and browsing a silent auction with a number of items from local merchants.

Featuring: The Latenight Callers and David George and A Crooked Mile, the Friends of JJ's Benefit will also have performances by The Grisly Hand, Patrick Krief (of The Dears), Megan Birdsall, Victor & Penny, Loaded Goat, Allied Saints, Shellac Attack, and DJ Rico.

General Admission tickets begin at just $10. Proceeds will benefit the immediate needs of JJ’s staff and employees impacted by the Plaza fire, as well as create a fund in honor of Megan Cramer, a JJ’s colleague who died in the Feb. 19 fire.

Pardon my skepticism as well, but "immediate needs of JJ's staff and employees impacted by the fire" also seems a bit open-ended to me.

Money fight!

Nice to see the assholes coming out of the woodwork to try and take a dump on something worth while.

Why can't Jimmy be more honest?

Why can't media be honest about who this woman really was?

What is their insurance payout?

Why should the public be kept in the dark?

If they want money, they should provide answers.

How will the money be divided? Who will decide?

Why the fuck was she for prisoners rights?! Screw them! They are prisoners, they shouldn't have any rights!

Why do the people from JJ s deserve anything at all? People lose jobs daily, because of closures, lay-offs, etc..it's sad someone died, but giving them money does not really make sense. Suckers born everyday!

Wow... Unbelievable comments. There are people who were seriously injured that will need physical and mental help that costs enormous amounts of money for months and years to come. Maybe you have not worked in restaurants before but servers live day to day week to week on tips. When you don't work you don't make money. There is not in many cases health insurance for workers that is cost effective.
The community has come together to help our own, why crush that.
For those questioning how the money will be managed, this has already been established, there has been a trust set up through country club bank.
I guarantee that if this happened to you or someone close to you,you would change your tune.
UNREAL!

Amen brother.

6:33 you're shitting yourself, you shouldn't do that.

The injured will have medical coverage paid in full and then some once this is all over.

Waitstaff with JJ's on their resume have a job waiting for them where ever they want.

The well-insured owners will be just fine.

So really, what's all this money for? Where's the love when it comes to real tragedies in this town and elsewhere?

RIP Megan Cramer

10:31... You have no idea what you are talking about.
This money can be used for Megan's funeral expenses.
This money can be used for Patrick Woodwards severely burned extremeties.
How does this not count as a real tragedy that happened in this city.
Yes insurance will help eventually but not in the short term.
Why do you think the Red Cross helps families right after tragedies? Because they have nothing in the short term.
Like I said before if this happened to you or someone close to you, you would be front and center accepting the help that was being offered.

Quit being a phony on the Internet with your fake outrage, it's old hat to be a troll. Yes Megan perished in this horrible accident but there are others not just JJ's employees that have injuries that this fund will help. It just doesn't make sense to me why you think, the community coming together to help is not beneficial.

11:54, I have no doubt that the money raised COULD be put to good use.

What raises my skepticism is when anybody says, "Give us your money, and we'll spend it right. We promise."

After every disaster, there are scads of "charities" springing up to raise money for the victims, but sometimes the money doesn't always get to the victims.

And funny that you should mention the Red Cross. They got burned after the 1989 Bay Area earthquake for raising millions that never went to the Bay Area or to victims of the earthquake.

I don't even know WHO is putting on this benefit, who will count the money, and what the needs are, what plans are for meeting those needs, and who will be held accountable for making sure that the money is spent for the purposes it was raised.

So 11:54 everyone has to answer and be accountable to you, what an ego you have.
If you would take the time and do some research you will find that there has been a trust established, there are people in charge of money distribution that are and are not part of the restaurant.
What you have decided to do is jump on a blog and say you want answers with out looking for those answers first.
Nobody owes you an explanation of anything, if you don't feel the money will go to the right places then don't donate.its that simple.
Everyone has the choice of whether they want to donate or just simply have empathy for the victims even the lost dog. It's unfortunate that people in this day and age want to have a voice and want to be negative.

Yes, how dare I ask questions before I decide to donate.

By the way, this event was first billed as a fundraiser for employees impacted by the fire.

Now I learn that some unspecified chunk of this money will go into a Megan Cramer "scholarship" fund to help "artists."

Really? Might be a very worthwhile thing to do, but where is this money going? The art institute? The UMKC Conservatory? Local schools to support art and music education?

And yes, it is easy to set up a trust fund at any bank. But it is also easy to set up the rules about who is in charge of it, how funds can be withdrawn from it, and for what purpose.

These are very basic questions I want answered, since there are many, many, many worthy causes -- some serving the same purposes --who will answer those questions that I can give to.

Now if you want to give based on blind faith without knowing to whom or really for what you are giving to, then fine.

But I didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

Ok 9:06.... Beat your chest... You me me me individual. Don't give to the fund. I can almost garauntee there is no one that answers to you. You have zero power that you so desire. People don't have to answer to you.
