KCFD Passes Gas Protocol Reform But Continues To Blame Somebody Else

KCUR offers this round-up of the week's JJ's Inferno Coverage: "The Kansas City Fire Department on Thursday made a major change in the way it responds to gas leaks, after it was highly questioned for its response to the JJ’s restaurant explosion. In what he said will be his final statement on the event, Fire Chief Paul Berardi announced that the department will stay on the scene of any gas leak until the situation posing a risk is resolved."

It's truly the fire departments fault on this one. I feel sorry for the company that nicked the gas line. Over an hour from the time 911 was called. Gas could have been shut off immediately. Hopefully, KCFD and MGE will be found at fault during the upcoming future civil lawsuits.

Seriously, best headline you ever wrote.

Every protocol the fire department has is aimed a dealing with things that are other people's fault. That's their fucking job.

We should be praising them for learning from experience and putting better protections in place for the future.

Day late and a dollar short as the saying goes. But the fact remains the same KCFD dropped the ball and has to accept no less than 75% of the blame here.
