Union Station Kansas City features many attractions and special programming throughout the year. Spring is jam packed with things to keep the family busy and entertained. Shake off the Winter blues and come have some fun with the family at Union Station.

Science of Rock 'N'Roll Schedule

Science or Rock 'N' Roll Concert Series
Once a month, Union Station will host a live concert in the lobby of the Science of Rock ’N’ Roll exhibit, featuring local bands from across the KC area!

Special admission price: $10.00, guests will gain access to the concert as well as full access to the exhibit for the evening.

Performance time: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
On Concert nights, exhibit closes at 8:30 pm

*Light appetizers included in the ticket price. Cash bar available during concerts.

Saturday Family Workshop: Test Kitchen
Become Food Scientists! Have fun working together preparing, cooking, and tasting a seasonal dish. Learn the connection between food and nutrition. Please reserve a seat at least one week prior to the program.

Saturday Family Workshop: Engineerium
Explore the world of LEGO Mindstorm robotics, as you design, build and program a robot for a challenging mission. Experience LEGO's in an amazing new way!

Maker Workshop: Learn to Solder - 2nd Saturday every month
This simple project uses soldering materials to make a Robot pin with blinking eyes. All materials for this activity are provided. Adults are required to work with their children doing this activity. This will be an open walk-up activity.

Maker Workshop: Squishy Circuits - 4th Saturday every month
Squishy Circuits is an interactive way for Science City guests to create circuits and explore electronics using play dough! This will be an open walk-up activity.

Maker Workshop: Cardboard/Paper Weaving - 5th Saturday every month
Make your own loom out of cardboard and learn the basics of weaving. Participants will be able to see first-hand how the warp and weft, work together to create a patterned sample. This will be an open walk-up activity.

March is a month of madness at Kansas City’s Science Center! Guests are invited to spend Spring Break with us and enjoy fun, activity-based science learning experiences throughout the month. Here are just a few of the activities planned for March:

April Programs
In April experience the wild world of weather at Kansas City's Science Center. From rain to snow to tornados, our guests will be caught in a whirlwind of meteorological fun with interactive science activities. In addition to weather-themed activities, the Science Center will also be offering the following activities:

April 2 Look for Science City at School Day at the K! Be sure to stop by our booth and learn about all of the exciting activities planned for this summer and to receive a special School Day at the K promotion
April 13 Science City will have a scientific presence at the Rock the Parkway Run. Be sure to visit the Science City tent for family-friendly science demos. Rock the Parkway Run participants, plus up to four additional guests, will be granted free admission to Science City April 13-14. Participants must present their race bib at time of admission.
April 20 Astronomy Day will be celebrated at the Gottlieb Planetarium. Special show times and pricing will be offered throughout the day.
April 20 Celebrate Earth Day at Science City. A limited number of guests will receive a free Earth Day giveaway!
April 21 The Science Center is honoring area Girl Scout Troop Leaders and their troop members with a special buy one get one free admission promotion.

May Programs
In May guests are invited to experience an out-of-this-world time at Kansas City’s Science Center. Become immersed in space and explore the cosmos with activity-based learning activities. In addition to fun space-themed activities, Science City is offering the following:

May 11 Visit Union Station as we celebrate National Train Day. Special tours will be provided all day.
May 12 Celebrate Mom with a special day at Science City. It’s a special buy one get one day…all in honor of Mom!
May 18 In recognition of our military families, Science City will offer a special buy one get one day on Armed Forces Day
May 26 Celebration at the Station attendees will have an opportunity to extend their fun in the Science Center Sunday, as our hours will be extended to 6 PM.
May 27 Science City will be open Memorial Day, Monday,

National Train Day
Saturday, May 11th
Come enjoy National Train Day at the second largest operational train station in the United States! Enjoy our Model Train exhibit with over 5,000 square feet of model trains, then watch the trains come in and out of the station on the Mike Haverty Freight House bridge! History tours of Union Station will be available on a first come first serve basis courtesy of Union Station Volunteers. Enjoy special train related activities in Science City including the KC Rail Experience (add other activities as we get them). Special partners including Amtrak and Operation Breakthrough will be offering giveaways throughout the day.
