A sign that Kansas City is quickly approaching a sales tax tipping point:
KCUR: "The Kansas City city council gave a preliminary okay to two new community districts on Main just south of the Plaza yesterday. But there were some members were concerned that sales-tax-financed development could be getting out of hand."
Sadly, these taxing districts were a response to the sad fact that KCMO can't really provide services without more specific levies. Now medium-sized biz in KC has caught on to the municipal trick and have begun using CIDs as their quasi-piggy bank.
We have CID in River Market and all I see them do are the basic services that City Hall should be doing.
