As an atheist myself, this saddens me. They are giving us a bad image. I mean, if athiests held a parade would they want/allow a religous group? Doubt it.
If it rains on Sunday, it is God punishing the superstitious for treating their brothers and sisters poorly. Or maybe it is just a low pressure system.
Fuck the parade, go to a bar.

And as an atheist, I have no problem with this group being excluded, as long as there isn't one dime of tax money spent to subsidize the parade. If the parade organizers pay for all of the security, closed streets, etc. with private money, they can be as exclusive and bigoted as they want. But as soon as one penny of public funds goes to the event, they lose any right to exclude anyone. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
Let the atheist start their own parade and quit their bitching!!
I guess since this parade is now a proselytizing mechanism it should not receive public subsidies, such as closing commercial streets and providing public safety without paying a cost-based fee to Kansas City, Missouri?

Your parade receives public funding, so it should be open to the public for participation. Even the followers of Ian Paisley, if they choose to march.
Let me ask you this. Both major political parties also receive public funding from the cities that host their conventions.
Are they also obligated to provide their national forum and spotlight to any crackpot who wants to speak?
