KANSAS CITY HOLY WAR: BISHOP FINN VS. THE NATIONAL CATHOLIC REPORTER!!!

Take a look at this AP roundup of an ongoing KANSAS CITY BATTLE ROYALE between a Bishop Finn and The National Catholic Reporter that goes back all the way to 1968.

Catholic newspaper draws rebuke from KC bishop - Finn says parishioner anger growing over NCR's challenges to Catholic orthodoxy

In this one there really isn't any middle-ground. NCR represents the "progressive" wing of the Catholic laity that constantly criticizes the clerics. And other than an enlightened view on immigration . . . Bishop Finn is one of the most Conservative local Catholic leaders.

In the meantime, Kansas City seems to be at the epicenter of Catholic conflict as we prepare to select a new pope that might be our second to last.

To Hell with Finn.

What a craven fraud of a human being.

So, Finn says there's says there's "parishioner anger growing over NCR's challenges to Catholic orthodoxy" does he?

As a life-long Catholic parishioner, let me say that there's never been anything quite like the anger and disgust for the rank hypocrisy of the Church's bishops and Vatican (ongoing)institutional cover up of the rapes of children.

SHAME ON FINN; SHAME ON THE POPE AND THE VATICAN.

The National Catholic Reporter has never been convicted of a crime, been charged with one, or even accused of one.

Sadly, Bishop Finn and too many other Church leaders cannot say the same.

Last I checked, Bishop Finn did not rape a child. He bungled the removal of a priest who took "upskirt" photos of children. No surprise there. Rare is the bishop who has any training or experience in managing tough issues. His actions,in my opinion, do not rise to the level of "institutional coverup." Rather they reflect ineptness and failure on his part to handle a creep who should not be a priest.
As for National Catholic Reporter, for decades, it has covered the church as a political institution -- and from an extreme leftist point of view. Over those decades, many of its editors and reporters have been proudly and virulently anti-Catholic. (the paper itself has never been charged or convicted of a crime; who's to say anyone who ever worked on the staff has never been?) They seek to remake the church in accord with their views, not to reform it. And judging from what they write, they heap personal smears and wrath -- as only the left can dish it out -- on anyone who disagrees with their views. They are indeed a national, independent newspaper. As such, the name "Catholic" should be removed from their masthead.

The "Catholic" Church is a political institution which is bent on world domination. Fuck it.

Choose democracy instead.

Finn should step down so we can move on.

Who knows. what Nazi comes to replace Finn could be even more fucked in the head? Ever since JP2 only Neo-Nazis get named as priests, or move up the hierarchy.

Mr. Tony,
Excuse me, but this lifelong, parish raised Catholic is not upset with the National Catholic Reporter. No sir. I am upset at those creepy priest and their enablers.

Catholics like and respect NCR, which is more than can be said for Finn. The NCR succeeds because it is fair and accurate and based in morality, whereas Finn, well, just another criminal.

Finn thinks he speaks for someone besides himself.

He does not.

Finn needs to quit blaming people other than himself.

Listen you motherfucking dumbshits who hate Bishop Finn. What is he supposed to do? Our church tells our leadership that they cannot have sex. Who the fuck is going to join a club like that?

Sometimes I wish I was Mormon instead of Catholic. Having a spare wife is better than harbor pedo. Priest.

The National Catholic Reporter is to Catholics what "Jew Hater Daily" would be to Jews.
The paper simply is anti-Catholic all the time.

Heh. Check this out. The NCR is reporting that:

One of the domain names of a website that is the primary source of information on clergy sex abuse cases has been blocked on the Vatican's web servers.

Users on Vatican servers who try to access one of the four web addresses for Bishopaccountability.org, which tracks publicly available information on clergy accused of abuse, are told the page has been blocked because of “Hate/Racism.”

A Vatican spokesman said the site may be blocked because of an automatic filter system that checks words that appear on websites for explicit nature or inappropriateness.

Of course what the bad content is is what the PERVERT PRIESTS AND BUTTFUCKING BISHOPS ACTUALLY DID!!!

So, why is this news again? Who cares?

5:29 You couldn't be more wrong. He didn't "bungle" anything. He actively covered up known abuse of children by Ratigan, with the statement that he (Finn) couldn't save Ratigan's priesthood if he (Ratigan) was sent to prison. Finn's subordinates finally disobeyed his orders and reported Ratigan while Finn was out of town. When Finn returned, he was very angry with them for reporting Ratigan. In my book, the getaway driver is still a bank robber, just like the gunman. So fuck Finn, and fuck you for lying about his crimes. Apologists like you are the problem with the Catholic church, as you allow disgusting scum like Ratigan and Finn to flourish.

9:02, the problem with the Catholic Church is that religion is a lie. There is no god.

Anonymous said...

9:02 is right that that there is no god; but that's not really the point. There are plenty of well-intended religious people and institutions who would NEVER have done what Ratigan or Finn did.

While I think people who believe in an "omnipotent divine being" are 100% wrong about that belief, I DON'T think they deserve to be smeared by the inference that such belief is the foundation for pedophilia.

A little intellectual honesty, please?

Say, wasn't Bishop Finn found guilty in Circuit Court of a criminal charge of failing to report child abuse? Should this fellow even be still a bishop? I'm one Catholic, of many, who are glad the NCR is focused in on the misconduct of guys like Finn. This man is unChrist like.

There is absolutely nothing in this story that wasn't reported nationally and locally a full month ago, when it happened.
