KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN STREET CLOSURE AND PARKING DISASTER IN THE MAKING: WELCOME TO MARCH MADNESS!!!

The Kansas City Downtown Council reminds us that over the next three weeks the Sprint Center and Municipal Auditorium will play host to four tournaments — the Big 12 men's b-ball, the NAIA men’s nationals, the NCAA men’s nationals first round and the MIAA men’s and women’s conference – stretching from March 7-24.
The Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association (KCCVA) estimates the economic impact of the Big 12 and NAIA tournaments at $11.5 million. This is based on spending by the attendees and the organization . . . And maybe some fairy dust.
MORE IMPORTANTLY . . . DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY STREETS ARE GOING TO BE A MESS DURING MARCH AND PARKING PRICES WILL SKYROCKET!!!

"economic impact" is the most bogus term ever. The snowstorms probably had 11 million of economic impact. Lots of people made money off of it but was it positive for the area? Economic impact doesn't measure whether an activity is positive or negative it just measures money changing hands.
Good comment. Sometimes good financial news gets lost in the mix.
The NBA only brings more NIGGERS to KC. If that is a plus, then let's import rats, disease, plaque and diptheria as well.
If we only had a toy train....
Does the CVA have an estimate of the NET economic impact of those events? They can start by putting the $12M per year subsidy for the P&L District on the other side of the balance sheet. And that even begin to address construction costs.
