Kansas City will soon witness the end of a trading tradition that dates back more than century and a half.
To wit . . .
THE KANSAS CITY BOARD OF TRADE BUILDING IS GOING UP FOR SALE AND THEY'RE MOVING TRADING TO CHICAGO!!!
Here's the damage:
Wall Street Journal Reports . . . Pit trading in Kansas City is relocating entirely to Chicago, ending a tradition that goes back more than 150 years to daily grain auctions on the banks of the Missouri River. CME confirmed the planned sale of the Kansas City property.
More . . .
CNBC: CME, which gained ownership of most of the Kansas City Board of Trade building when it purchased the grain exchange for $126 million last year, is recruiting a real estate broker, spokeswoman Laurie Bischel said.
And so Kansas City is no longer that much of a financial center as technology and finance conspire against longstanding traditions.
DEVELOPING . . .
Beginning of the end
ReplyDeleteI see the new Shahid Abdullah campaign headquarters and goat harem, managed by MD Alam - the eunuch.
ReplyDeleteBuy!! BUY!! Sell!! Buy! SELL!!!
ReplyDeleteThe wheat "art" on the front of the building really should be preserved and sent to the museum or Chamber of Commerce, etc.
ReplyDeleteOnce Sly's streetcar is up and operating, I am sure they will be heading back to KC.
ReplyDeleteWhy not turn it into a prison? Close to the Plaza during the summer months.
ReplyDeleteWonder now if Hearne will write 50 stories about this building and all the coke he and others did in it. Wonder who supplied all that coke? Any guesses anyone LOL.
ReplyDeleteJust another sign that KC is turning into Detroit.
