FOLLOW-UP: FAIR SHARE/RIGHT-TO-WORK CONTROVERSY CONTINUES AMONG KCPD!!!

Kansas City should be impressed with some of the MOST AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS and their insight into local controversy. I know I'm pretty amazed at some rather impressive insights on this blog almost every day.

Follow-up from today's Dead Tree Media edition . . .

Right-to-work dispute splits police in KC

The quotes are important . . .

However,

THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY HAS BEEN TALKING THE "FAIR SHARE" CONTROVERSY AMONG THE KCPD FOR ALMOST A MONTH!!!

In fact, about a month ago . . .

CHECK OUT THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS THAT HIGHLIGHTED THE "FAIR SHARE" ISSUE!!!

And then . . . Earlier this week, Kansas City Insiders offered more insight into the controversy over "fair share" and increased union dues. And, yes, we did discuss how it related to the hotly debated "paycheckbill

Thankfully, it seems that some of the initial turmoil is being worked out amicably and that's important for EVERYONE.

What seems to be the latest issue casing controversy for Kansas City's police force isn't about union dues but, instead, focuses on politicos (Sen. Kiki Curls) playing games with KCPD Salary Increases at the worst possible time.

I'm a democrat, but I have to say, I can relate to the way the non-union police officers feel. I would hate the idea of some union telling me I have to pay them money for something I want no part of. It seems to go against our basic freedoms as Americans. I'm surprised the ACLU hasn't taken up their cause.

So, the FOP attorney says the non-union members will be fired without recourse if they refuse to pay the union. Really?!? Is the FOP now running the police department, or is the city? I would love to know which city officials agreed to fire veteran police officers for refusing to pay some union. With all the problems our city has in recruiting and training police officers, I can't believe anyone would agree to such nonsense.

After the first one receives a suspension day for not paying, let's see if the others have the stomach for it. A single suspension day is over 4 times the cost of fair share, is 73 dollars worth that? No one will need to be terminated, they won't risk their jobs for 3 dollars a check.

The FOP is not a union.

How can an officer be disciplined when there is no department directive that requires they make payments to a seperate entity? If this directive exists can anyone inform us what it is or when it was published thus putting the officers on notice? Talk of discipline may be a little premature at this point!

The contract is the publication. Go ahead and roll the dice, it's your job.

Forte needs to grow some balls and get this thing taken care of before it tears the morale down anymore.

Instead of worrying about local control, because we can see how well this is being managed, focus on the cops. The FOP attorney should show some integrity instead of drawing the lines in the sand.

Forte you big wooos, do something!

Discipline lol! Shut up, Fool! Ain't no one getting suspended for not paying their Fair Shair lol! Go on with your Spooky, Scary, Scare Tactics! Ain't gonna work!

Preach on!

I'll tell u this. It's not fair and unamerican to make people pay for something they didn't buy or use. Kind of like Obamacare

Anonymous said...

What contract? Is this published or available to department members to view? How can this information be reviewed and verified? If the FOP wants to get compliance why is there not a better education campaign being conducted?

Anonymous said...

Politics? This might become a legal battle. What ramifications would this type of fiasco have with Local Control of KCPD? Need more information. Help!

It's the department's responsibility for putting policies out to the department, not the FOP's.

FOP will figure out their problems.

More concerned with Kiki thinking that she can play games with salaries. That's enough out of her. She needs to be voted out of office.

Outsource the PD and end this childish shit!

Maybe the PD members should choose a better forum to discuss this, like a FOP meeting where your voice will be heard. It is doing no side either good discussing this in a publicly read blog. No wonder the public thinks we are a lot of whining ass bitches. YOU bring it upon us. Make your voice heard at an FOP meeting where we can privately discuss this as ladies and gentleman.

Oh and get back on the road and start pulling people over and doing your job. The days of "fuck it" and "blue flu" are over. Earn your daily keep or GTFO. I know plenty of people who would kill to be a police officer in KCMO. Quit being part of the problem and make a solution. The people who read and comment on thig blog clearly have no faith in the KCPD. I don't blame them really. Why would I trust a group of people who put money before people. Remember why you got into this job. I didn't to make money. At one time you cared about people and their problems. It's time to reinvest in your sector, zone and watch. Take pride and responsibility of your neighborhoods. Every time you have a homicide or an agg assault, take that shit personal. I bet the neighborhood does. Who gives a shot what race or what the victims chosen lifestyle was. Murder and assault are a crime against society all the same. Man or Lady the fuck up. Get in your car. Talk to citizens. Give a fuck (because they CAN actually tell if you can) and make a change. We all know one of us cannot change shot. But if we were all to take responsibility for our sectors and actually give a shit maybe we would g need hotspots and ACU to do what is just the normal and right thing for a beat cop to do.

KCPD is more worried about themselves than the Citizens. Pubic Servants they are not. It's all about greed.
As a Taxpayer I want my money back form such a poor performance organization.

I admire your passion, but I do not share it. This country has been at war with its police for years now. We have been neutered and stabbed in the back and it is intentional. Being active out there nowadays is a sure fire way to get fired or indicted. Better men than you or I have had their lives destroyed when this police department and others like it decided to sacrifice them on the altar political expedience, usually to appease the demographic causing the majority of the problem. It's a slap in the face to drive down these lawless streets and not be allowed to do shit about it. But I have a mortgage and children. When this country is ready to get honest and serious about crime, call me. Until then, I will do what I can when I can while I watch the rest of it burn.

FOP members if you want a copy of the proposed by laws ask a non fop member. they have more info than the membership

Anonymous said...

Lol @ 5:20....get over yourself!

Anonymous said...

The non-union members should just not get the 18% pay increase. If they want the increase, they can try to negotiate it themselves.

Glad you got a laugh from the truth. Speaks volumes of your character. You have probably been in 5 years and think your are actually owed something. Enjoy your fruitless carrier of mediocrity.

Anonymous said...

Sorry you feel that way. I'm sure there is someone who would do more than you for "their family" for less and be happy about. Get over yourself and be thankful for what we have. After all you could be selling meth in east zone 10 sector. Enjoy loser.

Yup.

Anonymous said...

If you don't like fair share. Then fairly not accept the pay raise the rest of us payed our dues to have the FOP negotiate for.

Anonymous said...

pay dues for a 1.1% salary adjustment. WOW...who should I thank for such a generous raise?

Or your the guy who's topped out and getting paid what the department promised while the majority of us get screwed and all they expect is more more more. Handle your calls..follow policy...and don't put your neck out trying to be a hero because the department will fuck you over in a heart beat for one little screw up.
