"People who miss work tomorrow(or who did last week) have to take vacation days. The city has no such thing as "working from home" and if they are new employees, they might not have any leave, so they get docked. When the mayor asked nonessential people to stay home, he should have mentioned they'd be losing pay, even if they actually worked from home.Streets and sidewalks are so bad it makes it hard to get here...but we take risks...."
Once again this kinda seems like Mayor Sly playing to the cameras and the media rather than really knowing the score . . . Even in his own building.
And yet again, City Hall workers are paying the price for politicos who seem inordinately preoccupied with their own careers.

ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible dumb-ass. He just today asked people to stay home. His busses were stuck. Cars were stuck. Only large trucks got around. I saw stranded plows, cops, and trucks. If he had integral staff that needed to be at work he needs to make plans like hospitals. Get hotel rooms for your employees and make other plans. It was flat-out dangerous to be on the roads Thursday and made more dangerous for people who had to respond to stranded drivers. What a tone-deaf moron

The City of Independence is the same, the offices are closed but employees have to go to work or get docked. A leaderless fool running that town if you ask me.

I know I don't like him effing over people who took his camera blather in good faith and stayed away from City Hall. Is he cutting his staff's pay? Sure, they are salaried employees but fair is fair.
Salaried employees still lose vacay days when they are snowed in.
