THE KANSAS CITY HOT LIST!!! BIG WINNERS EMERGE AFTER THE JJ'S BLAZE!!!

Like it or not, we live in a political context and that means there is an opportunity to capitalize on every newsworthy event.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS QUICK LIST OF BIG WINNERS IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE JJ'S INFERNO!!!

More than anybody else . . .

MAYOR SLY WON BIG LAST NIGHT ON LOCAL AND NETWORK TELEVISION AT THE SCENE OF THE CATASTROPHIC EXPLOSION!!! HIS NAME ID AND POPULARITY EARNED AT LEAST ANOTHER 7 POINT BUMP . . . SO LOOK FORWARD TO MORE TAXES!!!

Credit where it's due . . . The Mayor did a nice job for all of Kansas City to see and this blaze easily buys a second term.

Almost as importantly . . .

KCFD WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PAY CUTS ANY TIME SOON AFTER THIS INFERNO SPARKED FIRE DANGER AWARENESS IN THE MIND OF VOTERS!!!

Fires are far less common nowadays but this dramatic event highlighted danger faced by KCFD in extraordinary circumstances . . . Sadly, a story lost in the mix is how nearby residents drove their neighbors to the hospital before emergency responders were on the scene. Still, KCFD deserves credit for their skill and professionalism handling this dangerous situation.

And then . . .

ONCE AGAIN THE PLAZA SECURES ITS PLACE AS KANSAS CITY'S #1 HOT SPOT!!!

Flash mobs, hobo beatings, horrible street performers and now earth shattering explosions remind Kansas City and the rest of the nation that The Country Club Plaza is the heart of Kansas City Proper.

  3. JJ hasn't really done much over the last few years. I acually saber the champagne bottles now and do all the coke.

JJ had taken me out of town to rehab and gone to his partner's house.

Don't worry, gary Busey says I am all better now and we will rebuild!!

  4. Is it true that Tracy Ward is alleging that the JJ's fire and explosion was caused by a drone strike?

  5. Sorry tony, as a retiree from gvfd i'd have to say, is this how far they have dropped now. no protecting the citizen.
Unfortunately i read the local rag first. they gave the timeline as gas odor, contractor, hole, then the fire and gas crews going around checking with the detectors, hearing the gas alarms and not recognizing what that means. No evacuation of the area, no safety zoning. and explosion, injuries. Thats not how it was done years ago. Something changed. And not for the better. Did they buy the fox news shit? Be afraid very afraid, the sun may come up today, did they buy the koch bros shit? Be afraid of your neighbor, dont pay your taxes, taxes bad, bad city services, buy that gun,Or did the bosses change some rules? I don't like unoins, just like the saintly regan may he spin in his grave.

    1. Fire chief was a big loser in addressing the media last night. He showed that not only is he a bad public speaker, but he got upstaged by the mayor. He should fire his PIO today, maybe put him on an ambulance.

  8. Well, the KCFD earns their pay and enjoys the night. We don't get many good ones because fires aren't a big deal anymore.

Imagine the NYFD....or Chicago FD, who must quickly put out fires, less it spreads in such a tight urban area to spread from building to building, block to block! That's why they are so good at what they do.

In KC, and similar spread out cities, not such a big deal to control fires from spreading. Nobody here takes risks because they WON'T spread that far. Why should they?

It's the difference between REAL urban cities and podunk places like KC!

  12. Can you imagine if Funkhouser would have gone to the Plaza and all but demanded people cover his thoughts on the situation?
Old Sly used this incident for maximum face time while not doing a damn thing to fix it.

  13. Plaza restaurants not currently on fire stay winning? Was Glazier telling another one of his tall tales?

  18. WINNERS?! Are you fucking kidding me? Aside from the poor taste in have such a heading for a blog topic, all involved were losers from those who lost their homes and businesses to the one person who lost their life and those who have lost their physical wholeness to injury. The local media circus that followed was a disgraceful tabloid like feeding frenzy. It would have also been nice to hear a report from the scene by someone who might resemble a journalist rather than the assortment of clowns who are reporters only because their stations can check a lot of the ethnic boxes on their diversity report to the EEOC and their stations can show how diverse and POLITICALLY CORRECT they are.
