Credit where it's due . . . Helicopter footage offered an important bird's eye view of the Kansas City fire @ JJ's . . .
However . . .
IT WAS SOCIAL MEDIA, WEB VIDEO AND TEXT NETWORKS THAT FIRST ALERTED KANSAS CITY TO THE TRAGEDY @ JJ'S AND OFFERED AN UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL VIEW FROM THE STREET!!!
Don't look at it as Citizen Media replacing mainstream . . . Instead, I noticed that mainstream TV was eager to share, promote and distribute the content of Citizen Media regarding this tragedy.
Even better, mobile phones provided a real time connection with emotions from the scene and 1st person reaction that mainstream reports often awkwardly convey. Folks at the scene wanting to share their story have an outlet not beyond looking for a TV crew of attempting to find a Dead Tree media newsie and then wait half a week.
To wit . . . Some of my favorite clips directly from yesterday's blaze are in this post . . . Check it:
Raw viral footage of featuring a lady with a heavy accent walking toward the blaze.
At the corner before first responders were on the scene.
