Didnt the Star state that the victim was a prostitute who was half naked, strangled, thrown in a ditch with clorex dumped all over her and a size 11 shoe left at the scene? And KCPD thought it was an overdose, not counting it as a homicide until a year later....
KCPD did not solve this! A retired KCPD detective did and only when a small town decided something was fishy! This is not the first time KCPD has missed a murder. Remember the guy the police found in his home dead and they thought it was natural causes. It wasn't until the funeral home that they found out he had been shot.
The PA's office will only do a good job because this guy confessed. Give them a harder case and they fold at the first whiff of a decent defense attorney. Or one they are in bed with.
No retired detective solved this you DA. It was a sergeant from narcotics and several good detectives after a homicide sergeant and his command staff refused to do anything for a year
