KANSAS CITY STREETCAR PART DEUX!!!

The Kansas City Toy Train line will keep growing by way of rigged votes . . .

Kansas City rolls out RFP for streetcar’s second phase

Proposed second lines . . .

• Independence Avenue, from Main Street to an “appropriate eastern terminus.”

• 12th Street, from Main both east and west.

• 18th Street, from Main east.

• Main, from Pershing Road to the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Volker Campus.

• Southwest Boulevard, from Main to State Line Road.

• 31st Street, from Main east.

Sadly, there's really no guarantee that these toy trains are going to help Kansas City grow, attract new biz or even help transit issues . . . What we know for sure is that this effort is siphoning cash from bus service and breaking this town's budget for a development plan that's almost completely unproven.

  6. Why the hell would they put out a RFP for more lines when there is no money to pay for them? There hasn't been another rigged vote scheduled or even talked about. What company in their right mind would respond And the pending litigation on the original project is still out there. It's possible the streetcar opponents will win and the streetcar fanatics will have to start all over and have all of KC vote which is how it should have happened in the first place. What do you think the results of that vote would be?

  8. Ever heard of investment in transit TKC? It's not a new concept. This isn't a party district. It's an movement to keep Downtown and KC alive. That's the reality you are missing.

  14. Sadly, yes. You are right. After 50 years of subsidizing suburban sprawl to the tune of trillion upon trillions of taxpayer dollars, we have some rebuilding to do.

Unfortunately, the suburbanites, who have been feeding at the public trough for decades, are shrieking with fear and frothy-lipped hysteria at the prospect of any $$ being spent on anything except subsidizing their waning empire of garbage development and unsustainable "neighborhoods".
