City flags flew at half-mast for this local patron . . . Patriotic purists might object to the unsanctioned honor but it's important to remember the rich are more important than anybody else in Kansas City.

who authorized the flag at half staff. as far as the american legion goes the only person who can authorized the lowering of the us flag is the commander in chief. the mayor can order the city flag at half mast but not the us flag

ReplyDeletePrivate citizens and non government buildings may choose to fly their flags at half staff to honor more local leaders. The Flag Code does not exclude any citizen, whether they belong to an organization or not, whether they are recognized very locally or regionally. Examples of deceased citizens that might be honored with by lowering the Flag to half-staff include local religious leaders, youth leaders, honored teachers or sports coaches, local politicians, or a local hero. There need be no authorization from the government for the private sector (non-government) to use the Flag to honor any citizen.
It is important to note that the Flag Code is a code, it is intended to provide guidance and is not obligatory. It carries no civil or criminal penalties for "misuse" of the Flag. Individual are not acting illegally when using the Flag according to their own usage. Only on government / public building is the flag code required to be followed.
Adele Hall, wife of Donald Hall of Hallmark Cards died recently and the praise is coming in on what a great woman she was and how charitable she was and how much she gave back to the community. I say: fuck the Hall family and fuck the Kemper families and fuck all the other elite families of Kansas City. They support the arts, don’t they? Yeah and they allow idiots to run City Hall, the polelease [that’s police for anyone who did not go to a KCPS] and KCPS. Why, because they don’t give a fuck about Kansas City since they live in the Golden Ghetto and have their own security and private schools. They only use their power and influence for themselves and it makes me sick when I hear one of these fuckers talk about giving back to the community. These are the same people who see their employees as cattle to be sent to slaughter during recessions via layoffs or to cut their benefits or to freeze their pay. Hallmark, DST and Sprint to name a few seem to have enough money to give to KCPT and to support the arts but enough money to keep employees. The infighting between all the families is why the city between downtown and Crown Center looks so desolates and why there is a College Blvd area in Overland Park. Have the Hall and Kemper families made Kansas City Missouri a better place? No and I meant that as a rhetorical question. People like the Halls are enough to make you a socialist.
