Hockey Might Save Meth Town

KC Biz Journal and small time pro-sports win: Independence bets on hockey to balance arena budget

Comments

  1. They left out the part about a 1% sales tax on all the surrounding retailers to pay for the building.

Also the fact the Central Hockey League could fold any year leaving the arena completely empty. But its easy to gamble with taxpayer funds. If it doesn't work out, on to bankrupt another city.

  3. Independence, home of The Devil's Corkscrew (RLDS Monstrosity downtown), just loves to set up tax zones with pie-in-the-sky promises and bankruptcy as the reality-check that goes with them.

  4. The mavericks rock. Its A LOT of fun.
