ReplyDeleteI sure hope it kills the unions especially since all kcpd officers and sergeants are being bullied into joining the FOP or having to pay a fee for them bargaining for us. And we also just found out that sergeants are getting a huge pay increase while the officers that are topped out get a 1.1% cola that will be wiped out with the fop agreeing to raise our retirement contributions 1%. Thanks fop for looking out for the little guys.

ReplyDeleteLabor contracts and hiring rules are PRIVATE CONTRACTS, mutually agreed upon by two PRIVATE PARTIES and the government has no business regulating them.
If you don't want to be in a union, don't apply for a union job. What's so hard to understand about that?
ReplyDeleteThere's plenty of non-union workplaces (they just -- coincidentally -- have lower wages and shittier benefits).
Union-only hiring rules are no different than a dress code, or drug testing rules. You agree to them when you take the job, and if you don't want to comply, you should find a different employer.

Why are union's legally compelled to bargain for and represent all employees? If you want "right-to-work" laws, then you should support unions right to not represent scabs and scabs to not be entitled to union contracts, wages, benefits and hours.

I know a lady who has been getting paid for over 15 years now who worked at the GM plant at one time. Bad knees is the issue just not so bad she can't still square dance and party her ass off. Guess they have no sit down jobs up there at that plant. Now before you call me a liar you union scum bags I have seen the checks many times since we bank at same location and she will ask me to drop her check off. As I tell her now I know why my new car costs so damn much. She justs laughs as she heads to the next party.

A good start would be removing unions form all jobs funded by tax payers. The idea that unions give benefit doesn't wash in the face of the fact is the lawmakers are doing most of it. If anyone needs paid vacations and perks it is that guy flipping burgers, not some fat cat union that has made my car cost 50K.
