COMING SOON: KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EXHIBIT AT UNION STATION!!!

They're selling this one as a "public meeting" only there won't be any politicos attending to answer questions, just PR and market research folks on hand to lull this city back to sleep.

Please Plan to Attend Public Meeting regarding KC Downtown Streetcar Project

The city of Kansas City, Mo. is hosting an open house style public meeting on February 21, 2013 at Union Station to discuss the upcoming KC Downtown Streetcar project. No formal presentations will be given, so stop by any time to ask questions and share your thoughts.

Once you arrive, you’ll find detailed exhibits on display to illustrate the two mile route. Information about station stops and the vehicle maintenance facility will also be available for review. Representatives from the city and consultant team will be on hand to answer your questions and address issues or concerns.

Construction on the downtown streetcar line is slated to start this summer. Now is the time to talk with members of the project team – so we can answer your questions and work together to minimize disruptions and help the KC Downtown Streetcar project stay on track.

Sadly, this is exactly the kind of "public meeting" that has served to define the rigged vote so far as Kansas City elected officials have substituted marketing for Democracy.

Too bad none of the usual suspects will be present.
I would have brought some bananas.

Wouldn't tomatoes be more appropriate?

I don't want to know what you're going to do with the bananas.

So now opponents are criticizing public meetings as a bad thing? So if KCMO were to allow only property owners vote regardless of residency and not have any public meetings everyone would feel comfortable? C'mon folks. Debate the idea and quit trying to make it about a process.

The flyer left at my business says Ralph Davis, city engineer will be there. He's the person who we businesses are supposed to give our construction issues to The other two people are PR/talking head useless people. Glad handers.

None of the guilty parties dare attend - they don't want to be seen having toy train cars being removed from their asses after the screwed taxpayers get ahold of them.

They finally decided to satisfy state law by holding a public hearing. Good for the crooks of the town for abiding by the law after they've already broken it several times over.

Will part of the exhibit be a demonstration of how city hall washes the taxpayers money?

What a waste of time and money.

Bigger waste of public $$:

50 years of subsidizing sprawl, shitty construction, unnecessary cul-de-sacs and highways, unneeded sewer, electric and water infrastucture.

And what did we get from it, whiny old white men shrieking about anything that doesn't directly benefit their position of privilege.
