Check it . . .
IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH YELLOW CAB LEADER BILL GEORGE WE LEARNED ABOUT UPCOMING PLANS FOR NEW AND IMPROVED WHEELCHAIR ACCESS IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Yellow Cab leader Bill George addresses questions thoroughly . . .
"Our fleet is in complete compliance and we're taking it a step ahead with these new vehicles. We literally got the permits last week . . . No other (cab) fleet in Kansas City offers the accessibility that we do. We (Yellow Cab) are in complete compliance with ADA rules."
Even more detail about ADA accessibility rules for local cab companies . . .
Bill George: "The way the ADA law reads . . . If you're not buying new cabs for your fleet, you're not required to have accessible vehicles. However, if you do buy new cars, you're required to have a percentage of them accessible."
TKC's favorite part of the EXCLUSIVE interview is a comment about the incentive to achieve accessibility and diversity for this Kansas City transit juggernaut:
Bill George: "We took the initiative to buy these new cars. We're adding these accessible vehicles into our fleet WHICH WILL RUN FOR THE SAME PRICE as every other Yellow Cab. We still have a lot of training to do with the drivers . . . Getting them accustomed to working with special needs fares. But we see the way the market is headed. Not just for altruistic reasons but because of market share it makes sense to lead the way when it comes to providing wheelchair access given an aging population and increased demand for special needs services."
Thanks to Bill George for offering an EXCLUSIVE preview of more Kansas City transit accessibility resources . . . Expect the new cabs to go into service within a matter of days.

Lets put him in a wheelchair for a month (no, not violence...) and make him call for a cab, hail a cab, etc., like everyone else (no special perks) and then he can tell us how compliant they are.
But will the taxi even show up when requested?
KC files police report on boxer event that never occurred
Kansas City fraud detectives are investigating what happened to a $15,000 city check that was issued for an anti-violence youth event that never occurred, police and city officials confirmed Wednesday.
City Manager Troy Schulte said he met with a fraud detective about 10 days ago and a report has been filed with the police fraud unit alleging stealing through deceit.
Does Bill George know that there are lots of different disabilities? Can his dispatcher take calls from deaf people who don't use standard phones? What about blind people? Or the many invisible disbilities? We don't all use wheelchairs you know.
City Hall head honcho's can't even manage and discipline itself, so how in the hell are they going to manage lower employees lower down on the food chain?
Bill George doesn't know the meaning of altruism. It's amusing he would use it in a sentence.
